Chapter Twenty

"we're sorry for what happened,  we'll investigate more about Mr. Kim. But for now, you can go home" the police officer said.

"Thank you for your hard work. We'll be taking our leave now" Jungkook nodded respectfully then we both headed home.

Jungkook and I were awkwardly sitting on the couch. The awkward silence filling the spacious room making it unbearable.

"I'm sorry"

I lifted my head, My eyebrows furrowing due to confusion of his words.

"I'm the reason why this happened to you"

I gave him a confused look and indicated him to continue.

"Namjoon and his gang, they hurt you because of me, for revenge" he looked straight in my eyes and opened his mouth to continue,

"I was part of bts, namjoon's gang since highschool. That's the reason why I always skipped school.

We used to bet with other gangs and beat each other, it was like a hobby to us. Then, things started to get over the limit.

Namjoon became so aggressive and mean and he kept fighting non stop,  gambling, sleeping with numerous girls and the thing is, the rest of our group got too influenced by him that we started doing the same"

He took a deep breath before he spoke again,

"when we got engaged,  I decided to keep it a secret from him. But sooyoung, His sister told him about it.  He then started threatning me that if I don't stay with his sister,

he'll harm you. That's why I was so mean to you Ji eun. I've always loved you even in highschool I've never laids eyes on a girl other than you. But I tried avoiding you just to protect you from him. But look at what he's done to you" he looked up to stop the tears that were threatning to fall.

My eyes got teary and I looked at the ground ashamed of my own self.

I've called him a jerk, cold, mean..  Thinking he hated me but it was all just an act.

To protect me.

"I'm the one who's sorry" I couldn't look at his face as I was drenched in tears.

He suddenly hugged me and caressed my back.

"promise me we'll always stay by eachother"

"I promise"
