All of the aunties were dancing around and singing at the top of their voices. Farah looked so gorgeous in her Indian attire. Today was her mehndi function.
Basically, the Mehndi is a desi tradition for marriages where henna is applied generously onto the brides arms and feet. It reflects colorfulness and isn't an Islamic law but just a tradition.
Farah looked so pretty in her green colored lehenga, and her skin looked brighter due to the Haldi ceremony which was held yesterday. It was so much fun, we had a huge water fight including men as well. However, the Mehndi is a function meant only for women.
"Hey Safaa, come over and get some henna done", Farah's Mum called me. I smiled and headed to one of the many women who were decorating peoples arms.
"Assalamwaleikum".
"Waleikumsalaam, what design would you like, Arabic or Indian?", the woman asked.
"I'd prefer an Arabic design, thanks". She nodded and started her art onto my arm.
I love both Arabic and Indian designs but Arabic is more better to me because I admire all the flowers an stuff.

When the event was finished and all the guests had left, it was sadly our time to leave as well. I had removed the mehndi as soon as it dried because it had started to become very itchy. Aleena, Ariana and I bid our goodbyes to the bride and exit the hall."Ariana, you come with me. Aleena and Safaa, please go to that car, Sameed, Zubair and Ayaan are waiting for you", Mama ordered. I inwardly groaned, I wish I didn't have to. I opened my mouth to say something but Mama gave me a deadly glare that said enough.
"Let's go Aleena", I groaned.
We entered a black car, Ayaan's car. Ayaan was driving and Zubair was in the passengers seat. Sameed was sitting in the back with a scowl. It's not like I wanted to join them voluntarily.
"Hey guys", Zubair greeted friendlily. Aleena and I greeted back respectfully. I let Aleena enter the car first because I didn't want to sit next to Sameed. I'd rather be chased by a lion.
"Can you get in!", Ayaan yelled at me. "Slowcoach", he muttered but I'm sure we all heard.
"I am, can't you see, or are you blind! Cockroach!!", I yelled back as I entered the car.
"Okay guys stop fighting, not in front of the groom atleast", Aleena consoled.
"Oh yeah... Zubair...", I let out teasingly and then smirked. He should be ready for some teasing now. "So... aren't you eager to see your wifeyyy's fresh Mehndi? Aren't you excited to find your name on her palms", I questioned jokingly as I wiggled my eyebrows. I saw that I affected Zubair because I noticed a tinge of pink on his ears and a bit on his cheeks.
"Haha... umm... yeah", he said sheepishly.
"Come on, stop embarrassing him", Sameed said. "He probably has enough Aunties pulling his cheeks here and there. But we all know, he can't wait for his wifeyyy to kiss those same cheeks", Sameed continued and we all laughed so much.
"Ooh, look how he's blushing, just like his bride should be doing now", Ayaan teased causing Zubair to fall into the deep red pool of embarrassment.
By now the whole car was full with the laughter of everyone except for Zubair who kept telling us to shut up and kept giving us glares.
We stopped at our house and I was confused. I knew that Aleena was sleeping over but why was Zubair here?
"Zubair is going to stay here for a while because his house if filled with naughty Aunties who he highly doubts will molest him just before he's married", Ayaan spoke up, leaving us in fits of laughter once again.
"Stop making fun of me guys, you'll see how I'm gonna do the same to you during your weddings", Zubair warned but we just kept on laughing.
Soon, our laughter died down and we entered the house. Mama and Baba hadn't reached yet because they were dropping some guests to their homes.
"Huff, I'm so tired man", Ayaan huffed as he dropped down on the sofa. I glared at him.
"Seriously?! You're tired? Imagine what we are going through, since morning we were running around the house cleaning, cooking and helping and doing more chores. What were you doing? You must have been somewhere playing video games all day!", I argued. I could already sense a fight coming up. I didn't care at all.
"Okay guys, can we not fight for once?", Sameed approached us but we just ignored his advice.
"You think we didn't do any work? We did just as much as you, we were around the house putting up all the decorations and lifting heavy things around, so let me tell you, we did a lot today okay?", Ayaan yelled.
"You're tired just from carrying a few heavy things? What's the use of going to gym to lift weights then? Or do you just go and check out the girls there... or the guys?", I said the last part in a hushed tone.
"I'm not gay okay, maybe you're just saying that because you're a weakling and you've never actually carried heavy stuff", He sneered and I lost all the control that I had over myself. I jump on him and began beating him up, sending punches on his shoulders and chests and pulling on his hair. I made sure to pin him down tightly so he couldn't escape, but he kept struggling to escape from my hold. Who's weak now?
Aleena came behind me and tried to pull me off him and soon Sameed joined her as well but I was too determined to beat this monkey black and blue.
"Safaa! Get off of him! What are you doing?!", Aleena screamed as she pulled on my shoulders.
"Leave him Safaa", Sameed shouted. Now he was trying to pry me off him.
Suddenly the front door opened. Mama, Baba, Ariana and Zaid stood there open-mouthed staring at us. Mama had a very angry expression on her face which didn't look promising.
I quickly jumped off Ayaan, straightening myself up and then I looked at Ayaan whose hair was all messed up and some of the buttons from his kurta were ripped out. There was even a faint scratch mark on his cheek. He deserved that, and I don't mind taking any punishment for it.
"What on earth is going on here?", Baba asked. Ariana and Zaid were standing by the door holding in their laughter.
"Umm... nothing".
"Nothing at all".
"Long story".
"Too long to tell".
"Zubair, you're older than them all, why didn't you stop them?", Mama asked Zubair who I noticed was on the sofa, eating a piece of cake, so calmly.
"Believe me Auntie, I did try to stop them but they just wouldn't budge. And Aleena and Sameed, oh Lord. Those two were aggravating the fight even more, what could I, the innocent groom could have done?", Zubair said in fake innocence. Sameed, Aleena, Ayaan and I all glared at him with cocked eyebrows. This dude is gonna pay.
"Ohh I'm so sorry you had to witness that", Mama said. "And you guys, as your punishment, you have to clean the kitchen and the toilet for me. As it is, I already have a lot of work pending. Sameed and Aleena, clean the toilet. Safaa and Ayaan, clean the kitchen. No more arguments. Your punishment starts tomorrow", Mama assigned. I didn't mind the punishment but working with Ayaan was just too much. Ugh.
