Hello my lovely readers! I (finally) have finished this chapter with some interesting news. I've been debating weather or not to turn this story into a trilogy of sorts. I have a lot more I wish to do with this story, but i'm not sure if I go in that direction. So i'm asking you, my dear readers, if you would like that. I also have an idea for a different story about Gratsu, but I am still debating weather to write it after I finish this one. Leave your thoughts in the comments!

"The real fear...is the thought that these happy days might not continue. To be able to laugh together once again, we have to fight. Our goal is not victory!!! We're gonna fight to live!!! That's our battle!!!"

The memory was too fresh in his mind not to remember. It was something he said to give hope to his comrades in dark times, and it was something he fully believed. He still believes it! He wants to live to see another day- to live for their future! That is his belief...or was it? Had he chosen the right person? He never questioned his thoughts ever, but now...

Exhaling, he shifted to his side facing the sleeping form beside him. Ebony tresses fringed under the other's closed eyes, their mouth parted in an 'o' as they snored loudly. Less than a few months ago he considered this person -this man- his rival and just a friend. It was too fast, too soon all at once but also invigorating. He received some of the worst news of his life less than three days ago and now his guild pulled so many strings to get him to a place where maybe - just maybe - he wouldn't die in less than a month, and his childhood friend and rival confessed in the heat of the moment. He couldn't comprehend all of it at once. It was too much for his brain to handle.

Gritting his teeth he turned onto his back once more to look at the plaster ceiling above. In less then two hours his guild would have him travel to Crocus by car with Gray, Happy, and Lucy - Erza being the driver. Translucent light peeked through the curtains of the guild's infirmary letting him know the sun had already began to rise - not that it really mattered - and that Porlyusica would be in to give him a checkup to make sure he was ready for the trip within the next ten minutes.

Stifling a yawn he weakly pushed himself up on the futon. His breathing wasn't obstructed as much as it had been since Wendy casted Fukusu on him restoring his breathing for hours at a time. It was one of the few spells that helped alleviate symptoms. It couldn't cure him but it sure could help him with comfort. Not that it was very comfortable in the first place...

He felt the ice mage adjust in his sleep - followed by a sharp intake of air. He kept his eyes on the unoccupied bed on the other side of the room. He heard a groan come from the other male and within a minute the latter was sitting up, rubbing the bleariness from his cobalt orbs. He knew the bastard was naked beside him - and that he was sweating from what he considered 'blistering heat'. Stupid droopy eyed jerk...

"Hey ash-for-brains, could you not wake me when it's the ass crack of dawn?" the ravenette grumbled as he ripped the covers off his bare legs and dragged himself off the mattress to the floor. Not caring his bare ass was showing he walked out of the infirmary and towards the second floor bathroom leaving him alone in the quiet, uninhabited space. He wasn't surprised when he caught the cheerful voice of Mira shouting "Gray, your clothes," while Porlyusica spit profanities at him as he passed by. He smirked in triumph at the notion of his lover being yelled at. Better Gray than him!

Knock, Knock.

The door swung open wide as an elderly rosette entered the room - grumbling under her breath. Although Porlyusica was a bitter, human hating woman she was a great healer and someone Natsu felt he could trust... even if she hits him on the head with a broom often. She had saved his life many times before and he appreciated her craft.

"Good morning Dragneel, I suspect you're ready for today's trip?" she asked flatly, inspecting him with formality. He whined  childishly at the consideration of traveling in a moving vehicle. The healer snorted at his reaction, opening her medicine bag to get the needed supplies to examine the dragon slayer. Her crimson orbs scanned inside the handbag as she pulled out her equipment onto one of the many bedside tables. Grabbing her stethoscope and blood pressure cuff as well as a lacrima pulse ox she tramped up to his bedside.

"Lean forward fire brat" she ordered, making him lean his torso towards his knees for the moment. Placing the nubs in both ears she placed the frigid metal against the skin of his back. She listened to his breathing -once in a while telling him to breath in as deeply as he could. After five minutes she nodded to herself and pushed him back against the headrest. She then removed the sensitive device and moved on to taking his vitals. Clasping the cuff around his thinning bicep the elderly witch also set his finger in the lacrima oximeter. Starting the magical device she grasped the bulb squeezing air into the cuff. It bruised his sallow derma as Porlyusica pumped oxygen. Watching both the meter and the time she pulled out a light pen from her pocket and wrote down the results in the space beside them.

"Your blood pressure is still low, however it seems to be improving" she commented passively. Impatience welled up inside the dragon mage as he wiggled restlessly in the cot. A muffled beep came from the pulse oximeter letting the senior know that it had read the younger's heartbeat. Removing the cuff from around his arm she glanced at the oximeter -exhaling heavily with a sense of relieved annoyance. "Your pulse is fine"

Recognizing the end of her examination the fiery pinkette eyeballed the entryway noticing a beautiful platinum haired woman bearing a tray of miso soup, grilled salmon, steamed jasmine rice, and natto frisking towards them. The woman -no older than twenty- bore a gregarious smile as she ambled into the guild's sickbay to his bedside.

"Good morning Natsu!" chirped the snowy haired girl greeted, setting the tray on the ailing boy's blanket covered thighs. The fire wizard drooled as he ogled the meal in his lap. Natsu knew she didn't make this type of breakfast often, so it was a special treat just to be served a traditional breakfast. Peering up at the female Natsu grinned before seizing the pair of chopsticks next to his rice.

"Thanks Mira!" he credited, digging his chopsticks into his meat and shoveling as much as he could into his mouth. The fair headed woman laughed briefly -leaving the room after Porlyusica. Wolfing down his spread the tempered male continued his morning wondering what lay ahead.
