A/N: Sorry to leave the last chapter on a cliffhanger. If you so far are not enjoying my story it is perfectly fine, but just keep reading it should be getting better. By the way Nikkei is based off me. If anyone has any ideas for future chapters please tell! Thank you 💚💚💚💚

(Zoe POV)

The whole street had been destroyed and now lay in ruins. I turned around looking for survivors in the rubble. It was devastating of how much we could loose in such a little time. My eyes burned from holding back tears that threatened to escape. I spun around in circles watching Rachel scream her brothers name. The thought of what she might do if she found her brothers body startled me to my senses.

"Rachel stop!" It was to late, she had run into her old house still screaming his name. "Zach..." I whispered into the air. "Zach! Mom! Nikkei! Sara!" I yelled all of my close friends and families names. "Joseph get Rachel make sure she doesn't hurt herself. Then meet at the commons house. It is still partially standing!" I pointed to the tall building up ahead. He nodded.

My legs carried me to the commons where I heard a loud moan. "Hello? Anybody here?" I called out then I heard a tremendous crash to my left. I jumped back and saw Zach covered in dust. He had pushed some buckets and other supplies out of the way to come meet me.

"Zoe! Thank god your safe." He hugged me. "Nikkei, Sara, Christopher, mom, and a few others are in the back room. We had all ran here when the earthquake started. Mom injured her leg, but everyone else is fine. Just a few scrapes and bruises." He reassured me then helped me climb over a fallen desk. I opened the wooden door enough for me to squeeze in.

"Oh honey where were you?! I thought you were hurt or worse!" She shuttered then moaned again grabbing at her right leg. "Don't worry about me I am fine."

"Mrs. Carson I don't think that is true. Your right leg is broken." Nikkei told my mother. Her mom had been a nurse and taught her few medical things. Nikkei's long brown hair swung down in her face as she examined my mothers leg. "You won't be able to stand on it for a while." My stomach hurt and I felt like I was about to throw up. This was not happening!

(Joseph POV)

Zoe just left for the big building down the street leaving me with orders to get Rachel. This streets used to be there home, but now it was a pile of junk. I sighed as I jogged into the crumbling home. It broke my heart to see the destruction.

"Christopher! Where are you Chris?! Can you hear me?! Chris please answer me!" Rachel screamed to the empty house. I stood away as she leaned on the door post. She sank to her knees looking at the torn clothing on the floor. "Christopher..." She quietly said her eyes would not look away from the cloth.

"Rachel I bet he is fine come on let's look some where else." I said walking towards her.

"No! Don't you see?! We promised to always meet here if there was trouble. He would have been here waiting on me. It's my fault that he is gone." She choked out the last word like venom. I knew it was guilt that led her to say this. I remember the feeling I had when I lost my parents.

I sighed, "Zoe wants us to all meet at the commons. We need to have hope there are other survivors. Your brother may still be out there we can't just assume he stayed here." I rubbed her shoulder trying to comfort her. "If he was here we would have already seen a body."

That set off the tears. "Body!" She cried into her hands. Great job Joseph! I sarcastically said to myself. "You...your right." She stood up wiping her red eyes. "He may have gone with Mrs. Carson." She repeated that a few times under her breath. I took her hand and lead her out into the deserted street.
