I just stared at Dan. I don’t like saying no to him, it breaks my heart if I do. He has that puppy face that makes him look irresistible and it makes me crumble into tiny pieces.
“Dan… Its a bit early, don’t you think?”
“Who cares? We love each other, why not?”
“Its just a little bit too soon.”
“Molly, don’t freak out. I love you.”
“I know you do Dan, but we’ve been together for a few weeks, we’re engaged and you want us to get married already?! I can’t right now Dan.”
“Molly?” He frowned. “Why not?”
“I just… Its… I need some air.” I went to walk out the door.
“Molly.” Dan said sternly, grabbing my arm and pulling me back. “You’re not leaving me hanging like this.”
“Dan, let me go! I need some air, I can’t breathe!” I fought my way out of his tight grip that had hurt me. It left a mark on my arm, he accidentally scraped his nails across my skin and it bled.
“Molly, why do you do this?!” He shouted down the corridor.
“Do what?!” I shouted back, holding my arm.
“Run away when everything gets tough!”
I turned back and walked up to him. “I’m not running away Daniel, I need air!” I started to run back down the corridor, trying to get away from him.
“You’ve always got an excuse for everything!” He shouted as he started to chase me down the corridor.
“Dan just leave me alone, okay?!”
He caught up with me and pulled me to the side, pinning me against the wall. “Molly, don’t run off.” He gritted his teeth. He was red with fury.
“Dan, you’re scaring me.” A tear began to fall down my face. Why didn’t he just listen to me?
“You’re not leaving it at this Molly. You can’t run away whenever something that freaks you out happens!” He began to shake me whenever he spoke.
“That’s all I’ve ever done Dan! I don’t know any different! Just let me go!”
“NO” he shouted at me. “You’re not running away, not this time.”
He had both hands on my shoulders, pinning me against the wall using all the strength he had to keep me there. It began to really hurt me. I didn’t realise how much he could hurt when he was angry.
He leaned in to kiss me. I was so pissed off. Why would he have a go at me and then kiss me like fuck all happened?! He still had a firm grip on me against the wall.
“Dan let me go, you’re hurting me!” I managed to push him away and made a b-line for the lobby. I don’t know why he was acting like this. He knows how easily freaked out I get.

I went for a walk around anywhere. I looked at my phone and it said it was 11:25pm, no wonder it was dark. It also said I had 7 missed calls from Dan. I couldn’t bare to ring him, I can’t even think straight. He just doesn’t get it, its too soon for me to get married. I’m 17 for crying out loud! Why would I get married at a very young age?
I found myself walking into a pub that’s open all hours. I sat down at the bar and asked for a shot, forgetting I had no money on me.
“Shit, sorry I’ve got no money.” I said to the bartender. “Don’t worry, that one was on the house” he replied. “What’s your name, anyway?”
