As I opened my tired eyes, I was greeted by the most beautiful sight I have ever seen; my fiancée. Wow, did it feel nice to say that. His perfect smile and big blue eyes gave me the warmest feeling I have ever felt. I was also greeted by a little furry animal that goes by the name Barney. He was snuggled up in-between Dan and I, dreaming away.
“Good morning, beautiful.” Dan whispered as he held my cheek, stroking it with his thumb.
I let out a contented sigh. ”Good morning, Dan. You’re a really nice sight to wake up to.”
“I love watching you wake up; seeing your blue eyes open, seeing you smile as you look at me.”
“I just love seeing you in the morning, it starts the day of great and seeing you before I go to sleep ends it perfectly, no matter what happened during the day.”
Barney woke up, stretched and jumped off our bunk and went to annoy Josh in his. Dan scooched over and cuddled me, kissing the back of my neck. ”I love you so much, you know that Molls?”
“Of course I do, Dan." I rolled over and kissed him. "I need a shower, I don’t want you seeing me all day with greasy hair and smelling of alcohol.”
“Fine then.” Dan huffed. "Go shower, and then come back here for another long cuddle, yeah?”
I smiled at him as I got out of the bunk, being careful not to wake anyone up. Surprisingly Chris was up.
“Alright, Molly?”
“Yeah, just a bit headachy; hangover. You?”
“Eh, could've been better.”
“What’s up?”
“Missing Georgina. Seeing you and Dan together makes me miss her even more. I want to wake up next to her. I didn’t even sleep last night, I just stared at her picture.”
“Phone her up, Chris. Tell her to come on tour with us. We only have what three days left on tour but she can pull a sicky can’t she?”
“I’ll ask her. I really need to hear her voice too. Thanks, Molly.”
“No problem Chris. Always here to help.”
I walked off towards the shower, noticing Dan had fell back asleep. He’s such a cutie. I stepped in the shower and gently sang to myself to pass the time. All I could sing was ‘Tank Park Salute’ by Billy Bragg. It was my dad’s favourite song, he would sing me to sleep with it when I was little. I don’t know why I began singing it, nothing about this tour reminded me of him. I don’t even miss him.
As I got to the chorus, I heard someone singing with me. It was Dan. He knew the song.
‘Like a pale moon in a sunny sky, death gazes down as I pass by to remind me that I’m but my father’s son’ He sang, perfectly in tune. He came in close behind me. Holding me around my waist, he started to gentle rock the both of us.
“That song was played at my Dad’s funeral. It’s so beautiful. It’s the only song I will listen to on repeat.” he commented.
“My dad would sing me to sleep with it. Apparently it was the only way to get me to go to sleep.”
"Why that song?" Dan asked.
"I don't know. He said one day I wouldn't stop crying and that song came on the radio and I fell asleep to it. Whenever it wasn't playing he would sing it to me. Why did you choose it for your Dad's funeral?"
