" Your mother held a special place in my heart, she carved that special place in my heart over the years. She engraved her love there.

Once something is engraved ,it is there to stay. It was my mistake , I never realised what a gem I had, until I lost that gem because  of my rash decision. "

The stars shimmered on the black canvas sky. The moon glimmered proudly. The night was serene and peaceful. The inhabitants of the household were all lost in deep slumber, all lost in the world of their dreams, besides her.

It had been a tiring day, organising the matric farewell, setting up the hall, running to and fro, making sure everything was alright.

Her eyelids were heavy with fatigue, yet sleep refused to tug her into its oblivion tonight.

She had alot on her mind.

The weekend that had passed had been one in which she had unearthed her past, and just thinking about it again broke her heart even more.

She really really wished she could have stayed longer with her mother. Unfortunately it was only possible to stay for two short days and she had to return due to school.

Laeeq hadn't stayed with her.
He had decided that mother and daughter needed their private time and he didn't want to make things more awkward than it already had been, so he made some lame excuse and returned with the rest.

Surprisingly she didn't mind, she actually enjoyed her time alone.

Her elbow rested on the window sill, her palm beneath her chin. She recalled the events of the weekend.

After their emotional greetings, they had all settled in the lounge, talking generally.

Ruqayya had served tea and her lovely homemade biscuits.

The sisters had reminisced their childhood days while sipping on their tea, while the rest remained silent, listening to their chatter.
