The girls stared at the newcomer warily, especially Hank who was positioned to attack at any given moment.
The newcomer slowly walked out of the shadows, and when he stepped out, they saw his full features.
He had dark brown hair that was tousled, teal shirt and pants, and sea-blue eyes. He had a stone pickaxe on his hand and a sword on the other. He had a casual and friendly smile on his face, but Leika was an alert person, careful not judge people by their appearance.
Analyn on the other hand, seemed like the world stopped around her. Everything blurred out of existance. It was like it was just her and him in the world. Her heart was thumping wildly against her chest. 'What...is this feeling?' She thought, hearing her own heart beat in her ears.
And of course, Amelia had a different perspective.
Seeing the sharp sword, Amelia immediently thought, 'I want one of those!' Accidentally saying it out loud.
She covered her mouth and the man laughed. He had a quite deep voice but not gruff or anything. Analyn blushed for some unknown reason. Leika glared at him. "And who may you be?" She asked. The man grinned and extended a hand. "I'm Steve! Pleasure to meet you, players!" Nobody decided to shake his hand except Amelia.
"Heya, I'm Amelia!" She introduced excitedly and pointed at the other two. Analyn waved shyly at Steve. "This is Leika and Analyn, aka my sisters!" She giggled and pointed at her pet pig. "And this is Hank!" Hank oinked for emphasis. Steve looked at her with an amused look in his face. She seemed really energetic and childish by the way her voice sounded. Steve never really met grown-ups that were 'energetic and childish' these days.
Wait, was Amelia even a grown up?
Leika coughed. "Anyway,"–she rolled her eyes–"are you the only player here? Or are there others?" She questioned.
"Hmm? Oh." Steve set his pickaxe down, giving Amelia the chance to snatch it. He gripped the hilt of his sword thoughtfully. "No. There are actually other players like you too." He finally said, catching Leika and Analyn's attention.
"Ow!" Amelia yelped, accidentally hitting her wounded thigh into the bark of a tree. Steve looked at her, worried. "You alright there?" He asked her. Amelia nodded. "Y-yep! I'm fine." She reassured. When he looked away and resumed the conversation, Amelia muttered under her breath.
"What do you mean, 'other players like us'?" Leika questioned. "By that I mean players that can actually go online, join servers, be an admin, and do the crazy stuff." Steve smiled. "What about you?" Analyn questioned. "I'm kinda like an NPC I guess?" He shrugged. "Who knows?" He reached for his pickaxe, only to discover an empty space in the ground.
Steve was confused. "Where's my–" His sentence was cut short as they heard something clanging against stone. Now he knew where his pickaxe went. They followed the sound to a cave. "I dont remember seeing that before." Steve said looking inside it. "HEY GUYS!!" A familiar voice called out, her voice echoing through the opening. "I SAW SOMETHING SHINY AND SILVERY!! Oh wait...THERE'S MORE!!!!"
They stared at each other. "Whaaat..??" Analyn scratched her head. "How did she get that so fast?!" Leika exclaimed, being the type of person who didn't like to lose. Steve shook his head in disbelief. "Let's go in and find out." He said before dissapearing into the mouth of the cave.
Leika and Analyn looked at each other and shrugged. "We better follow him, I guess." Analyn said as they went in together, Hank–again–catching up rather quickly.
When they arrived beside Amelia, Steve's eyes widened. Emerald ores glittered in the faint light. "Holy mother of...how did you find so much emeralds?" He asked the smiling girl, who was swinging his pickaxe around.
