The night had fallen, signalling the reign of the monsters. Zombies started to roam and Skeletons started to hunt, knowing they owned the night to themselves. Mobs were an abundance to the sight, and if you were stupid enough to walk around alone, you'd be shred in a matter of minutes.
In a small clearing, a bonfire was lit, it's flames keeping away the dark. Four figures talked with each other, wary of their surroundings. It was nighttime after all.
"So, we head to the village tomorrow?" Leika asked Steve, who was currently cooking dinner. "Mhmm." Steve nodded and focused on the food he was making. The smell of the cooked mutton was enough to make him drool. Amelia was rubbing and petting Hank and occasionally hugging him, which they both found cute to watch.
Analyn had fallen asleep, tired from all the mining. They had created a sleeping bag from sheep wool to keep them warm. "Is your sister always like that?" Steve asked Leika, pointing to Amelia, who was chasing Hank in a circle, giggling. "Actually, yes." Leika answered, her eyes set on everything that moved. Her hands jerking for her stone sword whenever she heard an unfamiliar noise.
Steve chuckled as he finished cooking dinner. "She's really childish and adorable." He admitted. Leika smiled, agreeing with him. Amelia ran over to them, Hank following behind her. "Is dinner ready?" She asked them. "Yep." Steve replied, placing a plate of cooked mutton on her hand. The meat was perfectly cooked and with mashed potatoes, it would be more heavenly.
After dinner, when the girls had fallen asleep, Steve stayed up, watching over his companions. His ocean blue eyes scanned their sleeping forms but not in a creepy stalker-ish way. He knew something was strange about them. Once, he saw Amelia, he felt a wave of doubt. Of course, Steve knew about the glitches. 'I'm pretty sure they're the glitches Notch was talking about.' He thought. But Amelia seemed too innocent to be something that could endanger the world.
When Notch had heard about the 'visitors', he called up Steve to search for them. And if he found them, he would escort them to his castle in the Aether. At first, Steve was in doubt, he feared that Notch would try to harm them. But the creator promised him that he wouldn't, and instead, he would give them something valuable.
Steve sighed and began his nightguard duty.

When the sun had risen, the four started to travel to find a village. Along the way, they would occasionally tell each other jokes, mostly Amelia and Steve, while Leika just rolled her eyes and Analyn paying attention to what they were saying.
Her eyes occasionally found them staring at Steve's blue orbs and he would look back at her, which made her blush.
"So, Steve," Amelia started, jumping up and picking an apple and tossed it to Hank for him to eat. "is the village close?" She asked him. "Yep. Just a few blocks away." Steve hummed, clearly happy to have comapany. "Is this village an erm, one of those big ones? You know, like the ones with lots of houses and a blacksmith." Leika asked, her hands inside her pockets.
Steve nodded. "It used to be a kingdom but.." His voice trailed away suddenly, trigerring Analyn's curiousity. "But?" She asked, eager for information.
Steve seemed to focus back on what he was saying. "Oh, uhmm, well...it was attacked a few months ago. The king went missing and without him, the people started a riot. Luckily, my friend took the king's place temporarily." He answered. "Is the king okay?" Amelia asked, concerned about the stranger. "What if he's hurt?" She asked him.
