I'm coming Vanessa

Jack's p.o.v.

I grabbed the bars of the cell and yelled out, " Vanessa!! "

Leo said, " That's...that's not Vanessa, Jack... "

I looked at him, and said, " What do you mean?! That's her scream! "

Leo shook his head slowly, saying, " That's your guilt talking. The voice is actually a bit less shrill, signifying that its..well...someone else... "

I sighed, and said, " Who is it then Leo? "

Leo said, " It's....it's my mother..."

I looked at him in shock, then listened with a heavy heart as the woman begged to be saved. I closed my eyes hard as she started to scream. Then, there was no more screaming. Just the sound of bones crunching.

I bent over and retched, trying to forget that whole experiance.

I looked over at Leo, and gave him a smypethetic look.

Leo turned away abruptly, and said, " I don't need your pity Jack...we need to leave. When they come to feed us, we jump them, got it? "

I sighed and nodded slowly, understanding that Leo was angry at the current moment.

I decided to get some shut eye, and took my coat off. I rolled it into a ball and lay down, closing my eyes.

A few hours later

I opened my eyes as Leo shook me. I groaned and looked around, seeing the people from ealirer in their hoods. I rolled my eyes, put my coat back on, and sat up.

Leo was talking to one, trying to get him to come closer.

A groan ripped my attention away from Leo and my eyes widened as I saw a couple of infected walking towards us.

I said, " Uh, weren't the infected in cages? "

A few member turned around, then screamed and ran away.

My face grew pale as I heard a chorus of groans rise in response to the screams.

I got up and quickly looked around our cage, looking for the safest place to be when they came. I determined it was the middle of the damn cage.

I said, " Leo? We need to put the plan into action now. "

Leo said nothing as he knocked out the man and took his key.

I said, " How did you know he'd have the key? "

Leo simply said, " I didn't know if he did. "

I angrily said, " That was your grand plan?! Attack a random member of their group and hope that they had a key?! "

Leo nods, and I sighed and facepalmed. I muttered, " Fucking idiot, " as a couple of infected walked to our cage.

They stopped, and just looked at us. I'm not gonna lie, I shook in my boots. Well, my sneakers, but you know what I meant.

They suddenly charges forward and grasped for us through the bars. I yelped as Leo was slammed against me. I looked over and he had a bite mark on his arm. He said, " Damn fuckers! Bit me again! "

I said, " You'll heal! You'll be fine! Well, maybe in a little bit. "

Leo said, " Not helping Jack! "

I said, " Everyone needs me in bad times! My cynical ways are perfect!"

Leo rolled his eyes and said, " We have the key, so now you need to boost me up. "
