Chapter 8
Hell was an understatement for Annabeth’s state of mind. She was furious. Freaking furious. First of all, every single day, they were bombarded by monsters. Second. She have to put up with Percy’s complains. And Third. She’s at her breaking point.
She eyed the prince who was sitting in a throne that suddenly appeared out of nowhere, while Grover and her do the tracking. “You could at least help.” Annabeth gritted her teeth as she spoke, not meeting Percy’s emerald eyes. They gave off a feeling of uneasiness on her.
Percy simply yawned and leaned on the chair. “Shut it and get to work peasants.”
“I swear I get dibs on this guy. I’ll kill him first!” Annabeth stabbed the tree with her dagger.
“Annabeth, you can’t kill a god.” Grover shook. He was being torn into two. Annabeth, who is his friend, or Percy, whom Dionysus forced him to protect.
“There’s nothing impossible. I’ll look for a theory for that. Maybe… Celestial Bronze can kill him.”
“Whoa, Annabeth are you serious?”
“Serious as Tartarus.” She said looking at the sleeping prince. She took her dagger off from the tree and walked slowly towards Perseus’ location.
“Annabeth! Calm down!!”
Annabeth ran aiming for the kill. Percy shifted his face towards Annabeth, and she tripped. C-Cute… no handsome!? W-wait? What am I thinking…
Annabeth quickly regained his posture and pointed a finger at Percy who was sleeping in his throne. “You’re awake aren’t you?!” She was sure that Percy would have been laughing his ass off in his mind. Damn it. Her eyes widened in realization. “W-why do I want to kill him anyway…?” She shook her head and turned her back on him, in deep thought.
The next morning, Percy woke up. “Ah~ I had a nice sleep, how bout you guys?” Percy shifted and saw Annabeth sleeping on the grass. He stood and walked towards her, seeing the map she’s trying to make. “Did she stay up all night?” He sat on the grass looking at her. “Hm, she’s cute if she’s this silent and not all violent.”
He stood up and began stretching. Only a few days left till the deadline, and they have not caught a single lead regarding the lost items. “Hm… I don’t think it’s possible… but Uncle Hades?” The earth shook at the moment he spoke Hades’ name. Annabeth and Grover jolted awake. “What’s happening!?”
“O-Okay! Sorry!” Percy said, and the tremor stopped.
“What just happened?” Annabeth asked Percy with curiousity.
“None of your business, Ms. Sleepyhead.”
“Oh yeah? Yesterday, first time I ever saw a god that drools in his sleep.”
“Excuse me?” Percy blushed, pretending not to know. He had been told that before. A lot.
“I said, you drool in your sleep. Seaweed Brain.” As soon as she said the nickname, Annabeth cursed. It was yet a theory that Percy is Poseidon’s son!
Meanwhile in Olympus
Hera sat on a chair with Aphrodite, drinking tea and eating some cakes.
“Ah! It’s good that we can relax for a while, don’t you think, Aphrodite.”
“Hm, Percy had grown to quite the hunk.” Aphrodite licked her lips and a vein popped on Hera’s head.
“Aphrodite, don’t talk like that about my son while I’m here.” Hera groaned. Though she knew there was no stopping Aphrodite.
“Oh, come on, Hera~”
“Shut up!”
“Hi Hera, Hi Aphrodite!” A smooth seductive voice said from behind and Hera immediately stood up with a squeal from shock.
“Whoa, quite the reaction I got from you, Hera.” Poseidon said putting a muscular arm around Hera. She looked at him and his happy go lucky goofy smile, which Percy inherited.
“Shut your mouth, you’re addressing the Queen of Olympus. Don’t forget that.” Hera pushed him away.
“Is this what they call ‘tsundere’?”
“Whatever do you mean with that, huh, Aphrodite?” Hera looked at her.
“As the Goddess of Love, I know every term there is about love. A tsundere is someone who is cold on the outside but loving on the inside~”
“Shut your trap. I don’t care about this fish head.”
“That hit the mark Hera.” Poseidon sat with the girls. “Hera, you look younger.”
“And you look hotter.” Aphrodite giggled standing. “I’ll be taking my leave~ I am going to Ares~ See you in a few, loves~” She walked elegantly towards the door.
Hera and Poseidon had awkward silence together. Hera groaned to break the silence.
“Are you mad at me?” Poseidon asked tilting his head as he scoots closer to her, making noise by moving his chair.
“Don’t be silly. Why would I be mad at you?”
“For breaking your vow.” Poseidon said looking down and spins his trident in his hands.
“It was a result of my own actions. And there’s no fruit.” She lied quite straight.
“Then… Perseus?”
“I keep telling everyone! He doesn’t have a father! He’s much like Hephaestus! I conceived him with my own power! Why can’t anyone understand that!?” Hera glared at Poseidon.
Poseidon pulled her wrist and kissed her, with force, his hands supporting her back. It felt like kissing a 28 year old boy was kissing an 18 year old girl, but that isn’t the case. Hera was older than Poseidon by two years. And they’re over 500.
Hera tried pushing him away by the chest, but Poseidon’s hold on her was too strong. She finally gave in to the kiss and kissed back Poseidon’s salty soft lips.
The two immortals were caught in a trance that they didn’t notice the door open, and their kiss broke after a shattering glass sound, and water slashing on the floor.
“Let me explain.” Poseidon said while Hera’s eyes widened.
Meanwhile back in the forest…
“It’s been a week! Why can’t we get out of this forest!” Annabeth kicked a rock in frustration.
“Well…” Grover shivered.
“We must go to the Underworld.” Percy spoke.
Annabeth and Grover looked at Percy like he was crazy. “You think Hades is the thief?”
“No. But I’m sure as Hades, that uncle will help us.”
“What made you think the King of all Evil will help us.”
“Because I’m his favorite nephew.” Percy smirked.
