HENRY HAD NOTICED how odd Wren and Hermione's behavior had been over the past few days, and it was starting to bother him. Little did he know, George was also suffering under the girls behavior. The mutual agony over whether the other reciprocated their feelings or not taunted them both.
Of course, they both did, but both of them were much too stubborn to admit it. Henry was absolutely terrified of rejection, and couldn't stand the thought of losing George as a friend. George was the same, but he wasn't afraid of rejection, so much as losing Henry.
Words could not describe how much George cared about Henry. It made his heart ache whenever he saw Henry hurting, and he never said it aloud, but he adored him. The way Henry would light up when he was talking about something he truly cared about and the way his cheers sounded from the Quidditch pitch when Gryffindor was playing; George appreciated everything about him.
Henry sat a desk in the library slumped against the wall, his blank stare holding on to the book in front of him. He couldn't even remember what book he was reading. A bustling noise came crashing into the library, following a harsh hush from Madam Pince.
Wren and Hermione came running in, and when they saw Henry, they ran towards him, slightly alarming the boy.
"What is wrong with you guys?"
"Nothing!"
"Just wanted to make sure you were still alive!" Hermione said as the two girls ran away. Confused, Henry got up and chased after them.
"What do you mean I'm still alive?" He called after them, but they didn't stop. "Wren? Hermione!" He called again, this time slowing his pace until he fully stopped. "They are so weird." He mumbled to himself, and then remembered his essay was still in the library as he ran back, to find it, thankfully, untouched.
________
"So?" George asked as Wren and Hermione walked back into the Gryffindor common room.
"I told we were right!" Wren said, crossing her arms.
"I just wanted to make sure." George replied, a bit shyly.
"Why couldn't you have done it?" Hermione asked.
"Because he would've thought something was up." George replied, "And he would've thought I was being weird or something."
"You don't think he would've thought we were being weird?"
"He already thinks you're weird."
"Wha- He does not!"
"Does too." George replied, unfazed by Wren's yelling, which surprisingly amused both him and Hermione.
"Does not!"
"Does too."
"Does not!"
"I could do this for all day, y'know." George said, smirking at the blonde.
"Why do you care if he was talking to someone anyhow?" Hermione interjected.
"B-Because, he's my friend, and I, uh, wanna make sure that he doesn't get hurt...?" George replied.
"Did the George Weasley just stutter? Talking about the Henry Potter?" Wren asked, jumping on to the couch next to George.
"Shut up!"
"You fancy Henry!"
"Fine!" George said, admittedly.
"Is that a yes?!"
"Yes!" He replied, "Are you happy? Yes, okay, yes!"
"Yes, what?" Henry asked as he entered the common room, making George, Wren, and Hermione jump.
"Nothing!" All three of them yelled at the same time and Henry was slightly taken aback by their sudden yelling.
"Uh, oh-okay." Henry said, "I'll see you guys later, then." He finished, walking up the stairs to the boys' dormitories.
Once the door closed behind him, George spoke again, "You two could've just potentially ruined my life."
"How would that have ruined your life?" Wren asked.
"Henry can't know that I fancy him." George replied, in - what could only be described as - a 'duh' tone.
"But-" Wren began, but Hermione subtly shot her a look that said, 'Don't you dare.' and Wren looked back at George, "Oh, yeah! Cause - y'know - uh, he might not like you back...?"
"Wren," George said, sighing, "this is why you should never become a motivational speaker, because you just made my life much worse."
"Oh, thanks!" Wren replied, and George got up to leave. Then Wren's face fell, "Wait- George Weasley! How rude you are!" After George left, Hermione cleared her throat and got Wren's attention.
"What are we going to do about the whole Henry and George situation?" Hermione asked the older girl.
"I don't think we should tell George just yet." Wren said, quietly.
"Why not?"
"I-I don't want to lose Henry just yet. I mean, he'll start hanging out with him more often and I won't be able to see him." Wren said, glumly.
"Okay, fine. We won't tell him just yet. We'll wait a little while, and then we'll tell him."
"Sounds like a plan."
"It needs a name."
"How about plan 'Keep-Henry-and-George-in-the-dark-about-their-feelings-plan'?" Wren asked.
"Something shorter...? Possibly?" Hermione asked.
"Nah, I like it. Kinda rolls off the tongue, y'know?" Wren replied.
"No, no, I don't know." Hermione replied, blankly.
