Chapter 3

Scarlet licked her chapped lips and continued looking down at Cinder and her crowd. Thorne and Nora seemed to do the same. Nora jumped up and barreled down the stairs, her little black boots clinking against the metal floor. Scarlet and Thorne followed having no idea where Nora was going. Scarlet looked in the direction Nora was faced to see and entire troop of guards. Scarlet grabbed Nora's arm and said "and what are you planning on doing about them?" In a very scared tone. "Did I not mention I had been practicing my gift since I was 11?" Nora said in a cocky tone. Scarlet shook her head "oh" said Nora. Scarlet saw Nora's eyes move from her to the guards and when her eyes met Aimery all the guards fell down. Scarlet felt her jaw drop and quickly closed it. Nora started running over to the fallen guards and then taking their weapons. Nora had at least 10 guns piled in her arms. She had much struggle carrying them so she turned to the guards and used her gift to claim control of 2. The guards she was controlling were almost as ungraceful as Nora. They came and grabbed the guns and followed her back to Scarlet. Scarlet hadn't noticed her jaw dropped again. Nora used a finger to close Scarlet's jaw for her. Scarlet would've laughed if she hadn't been so surprised. Scarlet found control of her shaken body and went for a gun. She glided her fingers down the polished white gun, until her finger hit the end where a thin gold stripe rung around it. Nora skipped over behind one of the ships that was parked beside the castle and Scarlet, as curious as she was, followed. Nora's eyes sparkled and then Scarlet watched as the guards started to get up. And Nora shot every one of them except Aimery who ran for Cinder. Nora shot and the bullet pinged off Cinder's metal calf and plunged into the ship they were hidden behind. Nora cursed and aimed again. Scarlet swiped the gun away from her and said "not me!" As she ungracefully aimed at Nora. Nora jumped up from the crouching position she was and began to run. As Scarlet fought herself from shooting Nora, Thorne raced down from the tower's edge to help Scarlet. He snatched the gun from her and shot Aimery in the thigh. Aimery shrieked in pain and lost control of Scarlet. Scarlet fell to her knees and murmured a curse word. Thorne scoffed and helped her to her feet. Nora peeked out from behind the tall bush and waddled over to Scarlet and Thorne. "Are you, you?" Nora asked reaching for the gun. "Yes, yes I am" Scarlet said fiddling with her hoodie strings. Nora set the gun back on the ground and put her hands in her pockets. She heard some shuffling, like silk rubbing together. She turned to she Cress bounding down the steps in some unusual attire, like the kind most Lunars would wear. Cress stood next to Thorne. She seemed to go a little red next to him for a second then adjusted  her skirts. Nora smiled in realization of why Cress went red. Cress glared at her when she caught her smile. Nora turned to see the claim-to-be-queen heading towards them. She pointed at Nora with her metal hand and said "who's this?" Looking at Scarlet. Scarlet put her hand on Nora's shoulder and said "this is Nora she's here to help us win the war."TO BE CONTINUED FOR THE 3RD TIME (SORRY FOR NOT THE LONGEST CHAPTER)
