Taylor's POV

I woke up to darkness and light snores. Hayley's snores. I glanced over at her digital clock, finding it to be three in the morning. She was sound asleep; I could tell by how still she seemed, though she was curled up in my jacket. Her jacket.

I took a Post-It note from her nightstand to write a short letter for her. As I took a pen out, my phone vibrated in my pocket. I took it out and looked at the screen, finding out that Veronica had sent me a text. I unlocked my phone and read it:

Hey, can we work things out again? I'm sorry for the way I was. I miss you.

I heaved a sigh as I looked over at Hayley, her face peaceful in her sleep. She sighed as she curled up into a tighter ball, her new sweater being baggy around her perfectly skinny body. As much as I loved Hayley, she was of the past. Dead or alive. Hayley was a past that I loved and longed for, but... maybe she wasn't what I needed.

Sure, I wrote back in the message to Veronica. We can talk it out.

I went back to the Post-It note and finally wrote my message to Hayley, it being simple, yet painful.

I'm sorry.
