Louis' POV
August twentieth. Today was the day that Sammie was supposed to leave. But she didn't. I don't know why they weren't there, but none of the guys were home today. Sammie walked out of her room.
"I take it you're not leaving," I said.
"There's no way I'm leaving."
"Well I'm glad," I turned around and started to walk towards her. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do this." Putting my hands on her shoulders, I slowly pushed her back against a wall.
"Louis, what are you doing?" She asked.
"You trust me don't you?"
"Yeah."
"So I just need you to trust me right now. I'm not going to hurt you okay?"
"Okay, but-"
My lips crashed onto hers, quieting Sammie's words.
"What was that about?" She asked.
"Can I just kiss my girlfriend?"
"Yeah. Oh, hang on my phone is ringing," she said walking over to her phone.
"Hey Jacks... wait what?... No I can't leave...Well what do you want me to do?... Okay I'll try... Alright bye." Putting her head in her hands Sammie sighed in defeat.
"What's wrong babe?"
"Today was just an important day back home and I have to miss it."
"What day is it."
I watched as a tear hit the counter. Then another, and another, and another. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her.
"My mom. Today makes it exactly thirteen years since she died. And I know that I shouldn't get this upset but I-I was so close to her. She shouldn't have died, it was all my fault."
....
Flashback Thirteen Years Ago
'Hi mommy!' I said running over to my mom.
With a cough, she managed to choke out, 'Hey sweetheart! I'm so happy you're here.'
'I missed you, and I wanted to see you. Besides, aren't you going to get better today?' I said taking her hand in mine.
'I think so. I'm going to get better just for you my little Sambam.'
All of a sudden, the monitor next to my mom's bed began flashing and making a really loud beeping noise. I started to panic because I had no idea what was going on.
'DADDY!' I cried out. Still holding my mother's hand, my father ran in followed by several nurses.
'Come on Sam, we have to go.' My father said trying to pull me away from my mother. 'Sam please.'
'NO! I'm not leaving her!' I screamed. Still holding on to my mother's hand, I watched as the monitor changed. The line that was yellow was flashing red. Through my sobs I saw the doctors trying to revive my mother.
Red flat line. The monitor now had a red flat line. All of the doctors sighed in defeat and hung their heads.
'Daddy, what's wrong with mommy? Why is she sleeping?'
'She's just going to be asleep for a while okay? Come on Sammie, we have to go home.'
'But what about mom? Can we come see her tomorrow?'
'I don't think that we can see her tomorrow.'
'When am I going to see mommy again?'
'Soon baby, you'll see mommy really soon.'
....
"It took me just about a year to finally realize that my mom was dead and she wasn't coming back. At her funeral my dad just said that she was going to somebody else's house to sleep over. Because I was little, I believed it. Once I realized she was gone forever my whole world changed. I stopped eating and sleeping. For being five, I was pretty messed up. That was, until Harry and his family came into my life. When Harry first met me, we immediately connected. Not like lovers, but like a brother and a sister. We fought over stupid stuff but in the end, we loved each other," she said.
"I'm really sorry. And I don't think it's stupid for you to still get emotional. She was your mother, and you were so young. Don't blame yourself for her death either. People die everyday."
"Yes, but she died because she had me. After I was born, her heart weakened. She was fine before I was born. I screw up everything."
"No you don't. I don't care what anyone else says, you're perfect to me. If you want to go home to pay your respects I'm fine with that."
"No," Sammie said shaking her head. "If I leave now, I'm never going to come back. My dad will keep me at home and away from you. I'm not going to lose you, like I lost my mother."
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. Let me call Jackson back and I'll tell him. He's going to be upset but I just can't lose you."
....
"Hello Mrs. Norbert is Jackson there? I tried his cell but he didn't answer... Okay I can wait... Hey Jackson... No, look I'm really sorry I just can't leave London right now... Yes it's because of him, I can't lose him... Just tell my dad that something is wrong with the airplane or something so I couldn't fly home... I know I owe you... I'll make it up to you, I promise... Thank you so much... Bye."
"What did he say?" Louis asked me.
"He's mad but I expected that. He knows that I like you but he doesn't see how I choose you over my mom. It's really hard for him sometimes because I'm his best friend. He doesn't always understand me but that's normal."
"Are you sure that you're fine with staying here and not going home?"
"There are some decisions in life that have to be made, no matter how hard it may seem to make them. Choosing you is a hard decision but I'm willing to take it to stay with you."
"Thank you. Oh, by the way there's a Manchester United game next Saturday and we're going."
"Really?! I can't wait!"
"Well neither can I," Louis said.
