A smile erupted on my face when the game was over. Anne had somehow carried me to victory and she was happy. I was happier since the game had ended. The door opened and the Finch's and the Morrison's walked in, with a little kid running in circles around him. I was so sure I had seen him somewhere.
I'm not going to preach you on the reincarnation theory, even though I believe it deep inside my bones. It just seems to explain dejà vu and it does make sense, since if you don't get your soul into another body, then how is it in the body you have right now in the first place?
But as I said, I'm not going to sit here and talk endlessly about it. No, but I am going to take a bit from it to talk about evil.
I don't know where the spark came from. No idea... I suddenly woke up one day with a sudden urge to investigate... Well, actually it wasn't entirely like that. I had been questioning life for the past days and decided that to know life I had to know death. I had this sudden urge to see a dead body. Just came out of nowhere. Maybe evil struck my body that day, and the urge to see a corpse didn't mean I wanted to be a detective: it meant I had psychotic tendencies. From that point, I don't think I need to tell you more stuff. I became a detective to drown the evil within my body. I thought it was long dead and drowned, but it might have gotten back.
I know you are reading this like "Yeah, right" with a very cynical look on your face. I would also be like that if I were you. To be honest, I don't even believe it myself. But it is a possibility, and those can't be denied until I have proof. Is it improbable? Yeah, but I don't think normal people just walk around hoping to see a dead body. It's just not right.
Nathan also had black short curly hair and was about Michael's age. The cute features of a young toddler still showed, on his big and always surprised brown dark eyes. Holding a lollipop in his hand, the toddler sprinted beneath the table, scraping his hair on the bottom of it. Ignoring it, he kept running around and around more objects until he bumped into me, while I was in the living room sipping on a glass of water.
- Sorry, mister. - He said, in an annoyingly toddler-like voice. - Who are you?
- James.- I said in an apathetic tone.
- Okay. - He said before he ran past me again, sprinting at full speed.
- Nathan! - Simone yelled. Then she whispered to herself, almost as if she didn't think I could hear her. - What's the point?
Nathan eventually settled down on the couch, immediately changing the channel to a kids show. Suddenly, I could hear Sarah Carlson talking behind me, arguing with someone unknown to me at the time.
- Stop being like that? Why are you always so depressed? - I could hear through the front door the argument. Getting closer and closer but without making it my intentions obvious, I hear a similar voice crying. In fact, an equal voice crying. Like if two personalities were fighting to claim dominance over a person's true self. - Oh, come on. Stop crying... All you do is cry. I've had enough of this. - She said, leaving the other mysterious woman behind.
In a haste, I crossed the room and sat down on a bar stool. When she came in, she gave me a sideways look, disgust all over her face, before walking away. Afterwards, a woman just like her showed up, tears in her eyes, her face red, makeup splattered randomly across her face. She faced the kitchen with the sight of someone who just got their heart broken.
- I don't believe we've met each other. - I said. She turned around abruptly, not expecting someone in the depths of the now dark room. The shutters had been closed by Peter when he was there before, maybe to set something up for later. I gulped my glass of water and headed towards her, extending my hands towards hers. Completely unaware, she uttered a little surprised "Oh" before shaking my hand. - James Atton.
