"Harper! We're home!" called her mother. "Harper?" her dad asked "Where is she?" he mother shrugged, "Probably listening to music in her room." They put his coats on the hook, "I have to go to the bathroom." says her mother. He nodded, "I'll get dinner started."
Not two minutes later, Harper's father heard a bloodcurdling scream escape from his wife's lips. He ran to the bathroom, "What happ-" he saw his daughter's lifeless body "Oh God! Why!?" They desperately tried to wake her up, denying the truth, "Harper!? Harper, you're gonna be okay. Harper!? Harper, please wake up! Oh my gosh, call 911!! Call 911!!! Now!"
When the police arrived, Harper's parent's didn't have many answers and they were still in shock. Vincent ran into the house, "Oh my gosh! Mr. and Mrs. Murphy! What happened!? What's going on!?" a cop tried to push him out since it was a closed crime scene, but the Murphy's said it was okay.
When Vincent heard the horrible news, his knees weakens and he collapsed to the ground wailing, "NO! NO! NO! It can't be true! Please tell me it's not true!" they said nothing and they all huddled together, sobbing.
A police Officer approached them, "I'm so sorry to interrupt. And I'm very sorry about your loss, but I have to ask... is this your daughter's?" he held up a diary. "Yes." sniffled Mrs. Murphy "I bought it for her birthday last year." The cop sighed, "Well... I'm afraid to say that this is an important piece of evidence."
They all gave looks of confusion, "What?" "Why?" "How?" The police officer put it in a bag, "It has a series of entries explaining why she... took her life." That resurfaced a new set of tears. The police invited them down to the station for questioning.
They began with her parents who couldn't explain why for their daughter hadn't told them anything that would suggest that she wanted to kill herself. Then the went on questioning Vincent, her best friend. He told them as much as he could; the bullying, her depression. He didn't exactly know why she did what she did, though.
"I want you to take a look at these journal entries and tell me what you think she means or what led up to this point." He read every single one of them. They described each scenario that occurred form her locker, to being dunked in the toilet. "She didn't feel like anyone cared and... she lost her will to live." The officer folded his hands, "Anything else?" Vincent shook his head, "I don't know." The cop sighed, "Well... I'm gonna let you keep that and try and figure it out for a few days until the next interview since you knew her the best. Can I count on you for that?" Vincent nodded.
The news spread quickly throughout the school. More and more anti-bullying posters were put up; more than before. Her bullies didn't seem to care and everyone thought it was funny. Rumors spread as to what people thought the reason Harper killed herself. Vincent couldn't take it anymore, he finally snapped when her heard Madison and Mia whispering."
"That little skank was such a liar." and "She couldn't live with the guilt and that's why she did what she did." Vincent shook his head, "You're wrong, bitches!" he screamed "Harper killed herself because you sluts wouldn't leave her the fuck alone! No one cared. These piece of shit posters were here before, but people only started to care when something happened. The teachers act like robots; saying the same thing over and over again, but not taking any action! Bullying is a real thing! And that's why Harper did what she did! Not because of the false rumors! But because of the rumors! And everyone just let it happen! You all killed her! You killed her!!"
"Shut up you bastard!" says Aiden "She killed herself!" Vincent punched him in his face." A teacher broke them up as they started fighting, "Stop it!" Vincent wiped his face and smirked, "Oh, now you show up." The teacher's eyebrows furrowed, "Is there anything else you'd like to say, Mr. Evans?" Vincent clenched his fist, "Yes, actually... but who's gonna listen?"
And with that, he stormed out of the school doors.
