Driving always cleared Alex's head. Especially when the windows are down. The gentle breeze brushed against his face, between the strands of his hair. Which released dopamine into his brain.
But driving from Moonlight to Getting-stars and back seemed not to do the trick.
He tried to take his mind off her, by participating in discussions during the meeting. But a certain, curvy, fine ass, dick resurrecting woman wouldn't stay back at Moonlight. The boner he'd nursed at the slightest thought of her made it difficult to concentrate.
He was definitely over the shock of seeing her, but he was still fuming with anger at his discovery. She was a far cry from whom he had envisioned as his mate. Alex had never visualized himself as a man with a checklist of what he wanted in a woman. Until he set his eyes on her.
He didn't want to desire her. But his body was contradicting his wishes. Never in his wildest dreams had he ever pictured himself with an older woman. A way older woman at that. Beautiful body aside, she was too old for him.
That only proved he had to look for a way to end the attraction before he came to terms with her presence in his life. He would keep his distance. The explosive attraction between them was a big hindrance to his plan, but he had to make it work.
"... send twelve point five billion into my account." Alex snapped out of his thoughts on hearing this.
"What! Who? How...?" He exclaimed in confusion.
Alex's reaction ignited a roar of laughter from Phillip. He laughed so hard and loud that he doubled over. He raised his head after a while but the stoic expression on Alex's face resuscitated his laughter. He almost rolled off the leather couch he was lounging on.
The meeting had taken forever. At least that was how Alex had felt. The first thing he wanted to do when they got back was to leave for his place, but he couldn't. Not without calling attention to his newfound situation.
He always had meals with his family anytime he was at the pack house. Which encompass everybody that lived at the eight apartments four-story building mansion. Including his parents and sister, his best friend and his mate, Philip's parents, etc. Being one of the few leaders that didn't stay at the pack house, Alex cherished every moment he got to spend with them.
With the vibe coasting through his pores, they would surely know something was wrong. Especially his mother. He was stalling and waiting for the perfect time to leave.
Alex had withdrawn to the all-purpose relaxation room, which had a minibar and various indoor games. The perfect place to relax. But Alex had no relaxation in mind. He wanted to lick his wound in peace before his hyena of a friend interrupted. Philip knew the right place to track him down.
"I was messing with you, man. You've been distracted all day. I came in a few minutes ago and all attempts to get your attention failed. I knew money would do the trick," Philip said, nodding his head in agreement with his words.
"I've seen her, Phil." Alex confided in Philip, interrupting Philip's laughing spree. He couldn't keep it bottled in anymore.
"You mean..." Philip whispered with a goofy look on his face and a teasing smile on his lips.
"My mate? Yes, I finally met her this morning." Alex affirmed.
"Congratulations brother." Philips stood up from the coach and joined Alex at the bar. He sat on the empty stool beside him.
"Do I know her? What's her name?" Philip asked, intrigued by the newest member of their growing family.
"I don't know... Yet," Alex answered sheepishly.
