"Mom can I go play with the other kids?" Koko asked pulling at my dress.
"Sure babe," and just like that she was off "don't get your dress dirty." I yelled as she ran to the kids.
I look to my left and there was Chris talking to his buddies, as our eyes met he couldn't stop smiling, neither could I. It's only been our third date and I'm meeting his family and friend. When we discussed this I was very nervous, his parents are very old fashion and been together for 30 years. I really hope I'm not a temptress because I had Koko out of wedlock. Chris and I eye contact was strong while his boys talked he just nods and smirks at me. I bit my lip bashfully, I love the way he looks at me. His lip curls up to stop his smiling but never works, he always looks me in the eyes instead of roaming, its like I'm seeing into his soul.
"What you doing standing here all alone?" An older lady said as she placed her hand on my back.
"Well I don't really know anybody." I said nervously.
"Well that didn't stop your daughter now did it?" She asked pointing to Koko who was playing with all the kids running around, I smiled, my daughter is very outgoing.
"Come on I want you to meet some people. They're gonna love you."
she took my hand and walked me into the house, I looked at Chris very nervously as he just smile. When we went into the kitchen the whole table was filled with other older women laughing and having fun. "Everybody there's someone here for you to meet." As soon as she said that all eyes were on me, then it got really hot.
"Everybody this is Chris' girlfriend Elexus." I waved. "Elexus this is Chris' aunts Lora, Julia and Brenda." One by one they got up and hugged me, I was feeling the love.
I stayed in there with the ladies as they cooked and talk among themselves, it was refreshing I was really enjoying myself even though I haven't seen Chris since outside. I was waiting for him the come and grace me with his beautiful smile, I could never stay sad or mad when I'm around him. When Valarie, Chris' mom, was finish with the pie she was making she sat down next to me and smiled.
"So is you're daughter's father in her life?" Hmmm that's a good question, we haven't really had a deep convo in three months. We didn't really break up in a bad way, I just wanted more and he couldn't provide that. Although he said he was okay with this, he's only taken koko for 3 weekends and she misses him. Kenny is usually all in his feelings but it's not just us, we have a child and he needs to be a grown man and take care of his daughter.
"Yeah, he's just dealing with not being together right now." I said putting our issues in simplistic terms.
"Does he know about Chris?"
Eh, how would I tell him that? We've been together since high school and I moved on with someone that I could be falling in love with 3 months after we broke it off. He would try to take my daughter away from me and that's not gonna happen.
