??? POV:
The night was cold as I searched with friends for the beast, I scanned the area my sword tight in my hand. It was quiet, some would say too quiet not even the wind made a sound,"See anything?" A girl with short black hair spoke in a whisper. I shook my head,"No, don't have cat eyes like Kim!" It was almost impossible for me to see anything, Kim let out a mutter,"Ya don't need to have cat eyes to see in the dark!" The black haired girl rolled her eyes,"Easy for you to say..." Kim then began to argue,"Shut up Puppet!" As they began to argue I heard something. The sound of something moving through the underbrush, at first I just thought it would be an animal. A rabbit perhaps? I slowly inched away from the arguing Puppet and Kim to see the cause of the noise. It sounded like an animal, a deep growl came from some bushes in front of me. I froze and went to check it out using my sword to move the bush but nothing was there.
At that moment of confusion I felt a powerful hit swipe my side throwing to a tree, pain striking me. Kim and Puppet stopped the arguing to see the beast, a demon. It bared its long pointed fangs into a snarl, and licked one of its blood stained claws. I slowly got up wincing at the pain of a large gash on my side, the demon turned towards me starring at me as if I were an easy meal for it.
The demon lashed it's long tail as it backed up from me swinging my sword, I jolted back at my own action already regretting it. As I took a moment to recover I looked up to see the demon take another swing, my eyes wide as I was thrown back. The demon yowled as Kim shot an arrow trying o draw the demons attention.
Puppet swung her sword at the demon's back legs barley causing a scratch from the armor like scales it had, I had trouble pulling myself up only to see the demon smack Puppet away with its tail. Puppet crashed into Kim who fell to the ground from the impact. I starred at them wide eyed and turned back, only to see the demon had vanished. I searched the dark forest for it, little did I know to was watching me. The demon crept up behind me and slashed my back. I yelled at the pain falling into my hands and knees, Kim and Puppet quickly scrambled to their feet to help but the demon wasn't about to let that happen. The demon swiped its claws barely missing Puppet and Kim, I tired to get away from my situation. The river was near by I could hear it, the rushing water hitting the banks and rocks. I could see it, I then realized how close we were
Kim and Puppet were able to draw the demons attention at last by just shooting arrows, the demon let out a screech that caused all of us to cover our ears. The sound was so high pitched it probably would have broken glass, when the screeched stopped I looked up. I was face to face with the demon, I froze with fear starring into its evil looking eyes. Kim and Puppet shook there heads running over, the sun began to rise. The demon let out a grin as it smacked me into the rivers rushing water, knowing it couldn't be in the sun. I gasped as the current brought me under water and back up, the demon vanished into thin air as Puppet and Kim ran to try and help.
I could barley hear their voices, I was beginning to swallow up water. I tried to stay above water but I would be dragged back down the current pulling me down the river further from Puppet and Kim, pain coursed through me as the current would ram me into sharp rocks, my vision was blacking out, and coming back, until everything went black.
Jess POV:
The next morning I woke up with a yawn stretching my arms out to the roof of my bedroom. I glanced around my room half asleep, I swung my legs to the edge of the bed were I got up and walked over to my door. As I walked out and pasted Gmel's room I could hear her muttering things in her sleep through her door. I slowly placed my ears against the door and tried to listen but I could barely understand what she was saying. I reached for the door knob shaking a little as if not knowing what awaits on the other side, even if I know it is just Gmel's room. I turned to knob to the left and slowly pushed forward.
As I did the door made a creaking noise,"Gmel?" I called out quietly as I slowly made my way into her room. It was dark really dark! Darker than usual it was unusual I felt around for a light switch and found it. The light turned on with a flick of the light switch and I saw Gmel sleeping peacefully, not muttering things. I was confused I must have heard something in here, Gmel groaned and began to wake,"Mmmmm! Jess?" She asked with a sleepy voice. I saw her rub one of her eyes,"What are you doing here?" She asked with a yawn. I blinked and got nervous,"Well huh.....I-I just wanted to......check on you!! Yeah yeah...." I spoke giving a nervous smile. Gmel just blinked sleepily and shrugged, right after that she fell back into the bed and fell back asleep. I took a step back then quickly made my way back to the door, taking one finial glance at Gmel if she is okay then....why did I hear whimpering? I thought to myself. I walked out of the room quietly closing the door making sure not to make noise. Was I imagining things? No. I couldn't have been, maybe?
I decided to walk outside to get some fresh air, the sun had just finished rising bringing light to the world. I just took in large breaths of air trying to clear my confused thoughts. I leaned against the closed door relaxing the warmth of the sun hitting me, I felt like today would be another good day like the last. I closed my eyes smiling taking it all in, at this point I forgot about what I thought I heard.
--------------------------------
I stayed there for a couple hours to the point to where everyone in the village was awake, and carrying on their daily life. The sun had risen some more and at this point I assumed Gmel would have been awake, I got up and dusted myself off and walked inside. When I walked inside Gmel was sitting on the table starring out of the window into the forest. I starred confused,"Um...morning Gmel..you okay?" I was a little concerned. At first it didn't seem like she heard me so I was going to repeat myself, but she spoke,"I don't know.....nothing I guess.." She didn't meet my gaze she just starred out the window,"Um okay then...?" I said really confused,"Do you need to get fresh air, or something because I know something you can do that will help you, and the house."That seemed to have caught her attention as she turned and faced me,"Well we need more because we haven't used that fire place in so long so I was thinking we can get it up and running again!" I smiled,"But we need wood so do ya mind going to get some?" I saw Gmel smiled and me,"Sure!"
Gmel POV:
I walked into the village to get some wood, but man getting some fresh air felt great. I went to the wood market but came with some bad news,"Sorry miss we have run out of wood, we need to go chop down some but that won't be done until tomorrow." The man spoke in a grim tone, I just nodded,"No it's fine!" I just smiled and walked away. How was I going to get wood at this point? Then it hit me. I could always just go chop down trees myself, besides I don't have to go that deep into the forest to get wood, and as long as I'm careful around the river's rushing water I should be fine!
I walked towards the forest looking for a tree to cut down with my axe, the village was off in the distance. I wanted to get this over with, I didn't want to stay here long. I grabbed my axe and began to hit the tree and grab the wood, when I got the wood and thought I had enough I was about to head back when I heard something, cough cough! What was it? It sounded like coughing?
I glanced in the direction of the river, was I hearing things?! I was hesitant but I needed to make sure it really was my imagination. I dropped the wood and made my way to the river stepping over lots of tall grass and bushes until the sound of rushing water got louder, the coughing seemed to have stopped.I glanced at the river back and widen my eyes, a man was from the looks of it badly wounded and seemed to have washed up on the river bank, he laid limp for a moment until he slowly lifted his head starring at me. I saw strands of long jet black hair covered by a dark dark grey cloak, but his eyes were shadowed over as he starred at me, until he fell completely limp. It was that point I knew he had fell unconscious, I didn't know if he was a bandit he didn't seem like it. Even if he was it would be wrong to not help, I slowly made my way to the wounded stranger.
