Angel of Death

a man: hears steps behind him, hears them getting closer, feels chain around his neck and bells getting even louder and louder, he falls on his knees.
Dano: "I'm Dano, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I will take you now. next thing you know will be.. pain and then paradise or hell. this is hell." takes the man's soul.
Winter: "another victim hm?"
Dano: "go away Winter. you're not supposed to see me nor talk to me. anyone who sees me is most likely to die soon."
Winter: fades.
Dano: walks around the city. goes inside a building crowded with people. "Jerry." he walks to him.
Jerry: "what? who's calling my name?" hears chains and bells.
Dano: "come here Jerry."
Jerry: "who are you?"
Dano: "I'm Dano, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I will take you now. next thing you know will be pain and then paradise or hell. this is hell."
Jerry: "what? wait! no!"
Dano: takes the man's soul. "sometimes I hate my job. when they talk too much." everyone runs around the man and tries to help but he's gone. Dano walks out and looks in his list. "hmm that's sad." a car coming his way. he stops it as it crashes over and lights up. "hey little. I'm Dano. I'm sure to lead you to the paradise." takes the little girl's soul and walks away. "three is enough for today." walks to the graveyard and sits on a gravestone. "I call of one two three so mote it be." the three souls appears.
man: "I understand.."
Jerry: "I don't! why did it have to happen today?"
girl: "Dano... what's going on?"
Dano: "the first one goes the right path, the first one is set free. shh..." the man disappears.
Jerry: "please! please! let me back! I want to live!"
Dano: "the second one is loud and inpatient, the other one needs another life, vanishhh.." Jerry vanishes in the air and is set to the day he will reborn in this world for a better start. places his hand on the girl's shoulder. "you don't have to fear me. I will free you now." frees the girl's soul and as a white bird it flies up to disappear in the clouds.
Winter: was watching.
Dano: "Winter.. leave."
Winter: fades.
Dano: sits down to meditate. he feels pain on his neck, choke on his heart, warmth on his shoulders. "brother, sister, mom ..dad. am I a bad person?" the feels disappears only cold wind stays and bites. he shivers. "Winter leave, I said!" he turns around but it's not her. "brother? what happened?"
brother: points at him.
Dano: "I'm sorry."
brother: "why do you blame Winter?"
Dano: "she's always watching me, it's annoying. why do you care?"
brother: "I don't. I'm a cold soul now. if you make me reborn.. that would be better."
Dano: "you won't visit me if I do."
brother: "I'm dead. you wanted so. you wanted it because I wasn't paying enough attention to you? to your little games that you did with people? how many have you killed already? just for fun or there's still something I don't know?"
Dano: "listen, I didn't want to kill you or anyone else of our family but yes there is more and I can't explain it."
brother: "so now you want to keep me forever cold?"
Dano: "my job is to take people's lives not to make them free, that is my choice to do that or not and.. I agree that I would miss you."
brother: bites him "oh brother! just do it! I want to go!"
Dano: wraps chain around his brother's neck. "I loved you.. but you have became a cold soul." pulls.
brother: "ah.." disappears for the next life.
Dano: "sister? you want me to free you too? you have a kind heart.. not like mine."
sister: "you have heart. yes free me."
Dano: "okay." puts hand on his heart. "the loved ones shall be free.." the pain in his heart disappears. "mother.. will you stay? you can still visit father and keep me warm in the cold days. you still have a warm heart.."
mother: "I'm sad that this job was chosen for you but I understand that it's not about the killing but the help that people need to know when to leave. I will stay till you feel like this job is no longer hard."
Dano: "thank you." he stops the meditating process and walks around the city again. a kid sees him and starts crying but his parents doesn't know why. "shh.. do you see me?"
kid: "mooma there's a scary person!"
dad: "I think he's just imagining things, let's go."
Dano: "why did he see me?" keeps walking.
Winter: "the kid is smart."
Dano: "stop following me!"
Winter: fades.
Dano: "she always fades right away.." sees an old woman that's in his list. sighs and walks to her.
woman: looks at him. "are you.. an angel?"
Dano: "I'm Dano, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I need to take you away now."
woman: "where?.."
Dano: "paradise, I think." takes her soul and let's the spirit fly up. keeps walking because he is an angel, he doesn't have home. by the next morning dew he takes another man's soul and two boys from an accident. but by the evening he sees Winter's name in his list. "Winter?"
Winter: "so now you need me?"
Dano: "why is your name here? I can't kill you.. you're a spirit."
Winter: "I'm not a spirit."
Dano: "what?"
Winter: freezes you "hm. I'm a strong spirit."
Dano: "stop. let me go! you're on my list."
Winter: "you have ignored me for long enough time. now I want to revenge a little. hahaha."

Dano: "Winter!!"
Winter: "oh Dano.. you have taken so many lives.. I saw every one of them. but you were suffering right after, right? I mean on inside, on outside you just knew it's your job."
Dano: shivering.
Winter: "are you cold? I thought spirits doesn't get cold?"
Dano: ignores her and hopes for his mom to help him. she really came and put her warm arms around her son. but it couldn't melt the ice.
Winter: "oh you still have your mommy to help you? how childish you are."
Dano: "Winter. go. away. leave me."
Winter: "I could leave you but.. you would freeze to death."
Dano: "I already am dead!" he feels his mom fading away. "ah! no! mother.. mother I free you shh......" she disappears in a light flash.
Winter: "so back to me. now I have your attention. amazing. I want to show you something." she makes snow fall. "have you ever thought about how interesting are snowflakes? they're all different shapes and sparkling so nicely."
Dano: "I'm.. cold.."
Winter: "that's why my name is Winter. not because I'm the season but because of my powers. I wonder can I give you a cold bite hmm." leans closer and bites his neck. "you have never touched me but now you feel that I'm cold.."
Dano: "ah no! you're a cold soul. I will reborn you once I get away."
Winter: "what if you never get away?"
Dano: "then.. I will die and there will be no more deaths on this planet.. no one will get into the paradise and.. the time will freeze you all."
Winter: "it won't happen. I guess I'll go now."
Dano: "wait you can't leave me here! what do you need?"
Winter: "oh nothing much. just some attention and now I will be able to get it whenever I wish." fades.
Dano: shivering with his eyes closed.... trying to teleport but the ice is too thick. the night passes and Winter comes in the morning.
Winter: "my dear friend are you still alive? you're all pale haha."
Dano: let's a cold tear drop fall over his cheek. "I.. hate.. you.." barely talking of how cold it is.
Winter: unfreezes him and he falls to the ground still not able to move. "will you keep on ignoring me now?"
Dano: "I.." looks at her and tries to get up. "if you.. help me.. I will send you to the good afterlife.. but please.. don't make me suffer any longer.."
Winter: "hmm.. and what will happen then?"
Dano: "in the paradise? I have never been there but.. I heard it's nice.."
Winter: "maybe the people who go there just disappears in nowhere?"
Dano: "maybe.. but they're free from the suffering here in hell."
Winter: "so this is hell?"
Dano: "yes.."
Winter: "you think we have met before?"
Dano: "Winter.. I don't know.. no one looks the same after reborning.."
Winter: pulls you up. "let's go."
Dano: following clumsy, still not able to move, holding on to Winter. "you.. are really cold.. colder than any other cold soul I have met before.."
Winter: "I think it's your fault. you ignored me for ages."
Dano: "I didn't know what you want."
Winter: "you never let me talk."
Dano: "you could have stayed."
Winter: "I.. didn't want to bother you if you yell me to leave."
Dano: "Winter.. I'm sad every time someone becomes a cold soul.. you should have told me it happened.. I didn't know why I'm sad.."
Winter: lays you on a park bench and takes a blanket from a near shop.
Dano: cough cough "..I'm really sick. I didn't know it's possible."
Winter: "Dano.. you have always had this name right?"
Dano: "yes. why?"
Winter: "it's rare.. unlike mine. everyone mistakes me for the season."
Dano: "and winter is cold.. do you know your real name?"
Winter: "it is my real name."
Dano: "if you want I can chant you a name you like for your next life."
Winter: "it's fine.. I'm good that you're paying attention to me now. can a cold soul become warm again?"
Dano: "give me your hand." she does. "yes they can. you're warmer now."
Winter: "if you want, I'm ready to go."
Dano: "Winter cold become warm and fly up with the first breeze of the soft morning wind, I free you as a warm soul shh..." Winter flies up as she smiles. Dano takes a breath and sits there for a while while he's warm again. he sees the kid again. "hey boy.."
kid: "mom.."
Dano: "shh.. you don't have to fear me but.. if you see me.. I have to help you.."
kid: "you look evil.. I don't trust you." he wants to run away but Dano grabs him.
Dano: "don't run. tell me does all kids and animals see me?"
kid: "I don't know."
Dano: "can you show me your friends?"
kid: "well, I have a dog.."
Dano: "okay and how about classmates?"
kis: I have to ask mommy if you can come.
Dano: "she doesn't see me."
mom: "sugar who are you talking to?"
kid: "hmm no one I guess.."
Dano: follows them home. the dog seams to ignore him. "so kiddo what is your name?"
kid: "my name is Taike."
Dano: "amazing name.. did I tell you mine?" kid shakes his head - no. "I'm Dano."
Taike: "your name sounds awesome too."
Dano: "can I stay here and tomorrow I will follow you to the kindergarten?"
Taike: "actually I go in the first grade."
Dano: "oh sorry. can I stay?"
Taike: "the school is today. mom and I just like to go for a walk before it."
Dano: "oh that's great! let's go?"
Taike: "yes." they get to the school and go into the class but.. still, no one sees Dano.
Dano: waits till the lessons ends. "Taike.. I have to tell you something that I have figured out. it's about your future and my future.. you will have to take on my business one day.. so.. be ready.. it's not an easy job.. and it lasts very long time.. I hope you understand."
Taike: "good. our teacher asked us to tell what we want to be in the future. what is the business called?"
Dano: "the angel of... "
Taike: "the angel? do they exist?"
Dano: "I am one.. but I don't do good."
Taike: "are there bad angels?"
Dano: "there are.. death angels. actually the full name of my business is called 'the angel of death' so you should learn how to take a life and how to release it, which is good and which is bad, who gets to the paradise and who have to reborn."
Taike: "...so you kill people?"
Dano: "Taike, no.. I take only those who are meant to go."
Taike: "I shouldn't tell this to the teacher right?"
Dano: "you can but.. then I will have to leave before I tell you how to act."
Taike: "where will you go?"
Dano: "to the paradise if you say the right words."
Taike: "I want to practice."
Dano: "really? hmm okay." looks in his list. "there is this woman who's driving on the mountains right now.. you think you can take her?"
Taike: "mom is waiting me home, is it far?"
Dano: "you won't probably see your mom after you take on the business.. I'm sorry but it's decided."
Taike: "where.. is your family?"
Dano: "they.. died in an accident. I was missing and my mom was worried, she was driving and she saw me, that made her forgot how to control the car and all three.. sister, mom, brother.. I had to take their lives.. brother thought I was guilty so he had to reborn, sister was sad and I felt that so I released her but mom.. she wanted to stay a little longer and she gave me her love as a warm soul.. I released her just yesterday.."
Taike: "that's.. horrible. and your dad?"
Dano: "he's still alive, he was home, I haven't visited him.. and I shouldn't, I want him to live."
Taike: "why shouldn't you visit him?"
Dano: "I visit only people on the list. if I would visit him, he would see me and that would most likely mean that I have to take his soul."
Taike: "he's probably sad anyway.. I think you should visit him despite the fear to lose him."
Dano: "aren't you too smart for your age?"
Taike: "you said I'm special so I believe it." he smiles.
Dano: "hm okay. ready to go?"
Taike: "first let's visit your dad."
Dano: "ughh okay.." they travel to Dano's father's house and goes in.
dad: "son?... I thought you.."
Dano: "I did die.. I'm a spirit and looks like you need to become one too.."
dad: "what? what are you talking about?"
Dano: "I'm sorry dad.. I can't explain this. as I always say: I'm Dano, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I will take you now. next thing you know will be pain and then paradise or hell. this is hell. I hope you go to the good side.." takes his father's soul and falls on his knees. he feels his head ache. "Taike did you hear what I said?"
Taike: "y-yeah....."
Dano: "don't be scared. it was the full form of what to say before you take it. it hurts now so.. there is another thing to do."
Taike: "what thing?.."
Dano: "we have to let the souls free. stay back and listen." he holds his head and says: "father I feel your miss understanding mind.. this won't last for long.. I need to release you, fly free, find sky, be free shh..."
Taike: "Dano?.. is your dad in paradise now?"
Dano: "yes.. he is.. of course you can change what you say but you have to keep the part 'I'm Taike, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I will take you now.' and the 'shh...' sound at the end of releasing someone but you have to understand if the person should reborn or go to the paradise and say that too.
Taike: "hmm okay, I'll try to remember that."
Dano: "there is cold souls and warm souls. you can feel them. which should go to paradise and witch should reborn?"
Taike: "I understand that."
Dano: "alright. then I guess we're going for that woman now. oh and also, you should never scream or show any other emotion.. just stay calm."
Taike: "got it. we can go."
Dano: "I guess I will become just a soul when you manage to take her.."
Taike: "I will make sure you go to the right side hah.."
Dano: "thank you.. but, be careful." they're waiting for the car. "now imagine you have the power to stop the car."
Taike: he moves his hand to stop the car, it does but Dano disappears. "Dano? where are you?" he walks to the woman. "I'm Taike, the angel of death. you don't have to fear me but I will take you now." touches her forehead and she passes out. "oh my god.. I actually did it. Dano please come back I'm scared.." feels chain around his neck.
Dano: "free me.."
Taike: "oh right. with the power of.. souls I send you away.. to the bright side of.. this land? shh.."
Dano: "haha you will learn what to say soon.. thanks and bye..." he flies up as a small golden bird and disappears in the sky.
Taike: stays there as the chain falls by his feet and he feels the wings grow, also some silent bells are ringing in his mind. "am I the angel of death now?.." he runs home. "Mom!" he feels sudden pain in his heart. "no.. I can't shout.." he walks in her room. "mom.." she doesn't see him. "no.. I didn't have the chance to say good bye.." he walks to his room. "do angels sleep? I don't feel tired.." a list appears on his table and he looks at it, there is some names. "I guess I don't have a home nor family nor friends anymore.. this is my job and my life is eternal." he takes some stuff and walks out. "where did Dano live?" he spends the day searching for a good place to stay and finally finds a place where no one would find him. he learned day by day and soon he became a real angel of death. at first people didn't believe him because he was just a kid but on his teen age they started to believe in his job. Taike continued Dano's job and when he turned twenty he passed it to another chosen child and so on and so on..
