How it started

'Kim!' Brenda screamed, charging at said teenager. Kim tumbled on her bed when the small bundle of energy jumped on her with a huge force.

'Hi Brenda', she said.

The little girl rested her chin on her chest. Her whole face was covered with hair and her large brown eyes held so much innocence, it almost made Kim smile a little. The older girl lifted Brenda off her and straightened herself.

'Would you do me a favor sweetie?' Kim asked gently.

Brenda who was only eight years old nodded eagerly, clearly wanting to please her sister.

'Sure!' I will do anything for you. You just name it'.

Kim smiled fondly and patted her head. 'Go get Briana. I've got something to tell you two'.

Brenda saluted cutely and dashed out of the door.

While she was alone again, Kim straightened her black crop top and dusted her navy-blue Jean's. She thought gravely over what she was going to say before her sisters came back. If they were a little older, it would have been easier to explain everything without scaring them.

A few mintues later, Brenda came back in with her twin sister, both smiling and Kim was having second thoughts of telling them the news.

'What is it big sister?' Briana asked.

'Come on tell us!' the sisters screamed.

Kim let out a heavy breath. After this they may not hold the same innocence anymore, she thought. 'Please sit', she ordered.

They did as told and waited.

'You too are special. There's a secret I want you to keep. Will you do that for me?' Kim started.

The eight-year olds nodded quickly.

'There is a place called the spirit world...'

'Like in the cartoon Avatar?' Brenda piped in.

'Yes', she replied.

'Like also bleach?' Briana cut in.

Kim's eye twitched. She loved her sisters but they could be annoying. 'Do you mind letting me finish?'

The girls looked down sheepishly and the eldest made a motion with her hand, a blight light appeared and everything around disappeared, in place a different environment showed.

'There is a world connected to this realm called Alfajiri', a picture of the earth was shown with another planet being too close for comfort next to it. 'we can travel between these worlds with the use of a portal. Alfajiri has two worlds, the spirit world and the physical world'.

'The spirit world is a place where the deceased go. Sometimes we half-spirits can also travel there, but you need a spirit guide. It is like the afterlife and a living being cannot stay there for too long or they'll never come back to the world of the living. Then the physical world is where you'll find all the races living together, though divided', Kim said.

Six shadows were shown raising their arms. The image of the planet changed to a map of Alfajiri. The continents looked small and thin in some places, that a decent size earthquake could have broken them into tiny pieces. As the shadows raised their arms, a gem started to hover and a blast came. It was unexpected and too bright, the children had to quickly cover their eyes. Once the commotion was over and the twins could see again properly, they saw the continents enlarged.

'At the beginning Alfajiri was tiny', Kim said. 'but as the population grew, resources were becoming scarce and finding a home was difficult so the ascended masters expanded the nation and divided them into sections'. She took a deep breath. 'The physical world is separated into six kingdoms. Four of them are the major kingdoms while the other two are minor ones'.

'The first is called Ardhi Za Dale'. She noticed the looks of disbelief and had to fight off a smile creeping in. 'The next is called Tierra Brumosa, third is Drukenia and fourth is Mji Wa Crystal. The remaining two you'll find out on your own. All the kingdoms are normal apart from the different races and all, not really much different from the way this earth is'.

'Then they're other people', she looked at both of them in the eye to see if they were paying attention. 'they're called guardians... half human and half... half... something'.

'Something?' Briana asked.

Kim rolled her right shoulder and rubbed her temple. 'Spirits, they're seven different kinds and well, I'll tell you the rest later since it's a long stroy'.

'So, are we like angels?' Brenda asked.

'No, you see angels are different phyla from spirits. Spirits have the capacity to incarnate into human form, angels do not, plus angels are at a much higher energetic frequency than spirits...' she realised she was rumbling. 'No, we're a different kind. Our ancestors fell in love with spirits. How they got babies, I've got no idea and so they passed their genes to us'.

'We also gain gifts', she continued. 'everyone receives a different one, each unique to their own. We're stronger, faster and more agile'.

'What about durability?' Brenda asked.

Kim raised an eyebrow, surprised she even knew that. 'Yes, we also have enhanced durability. You should also remember to only use your powers when you're in big trouble. For example, if you were trapped in a house of fire but don't always rely on them'.

'So, what are they?' Briana asked, excited.

'You can control elements like earth, water, fire and air. It's just a special power spirits bestow onto you. While others don't have that luxury, they still have their gifts to help them. In rare cases a person could have none of those. Our main duty is to protect humans from the supernatural and if there is any lurking soul wondering around, we send it away'.

'Like Bleach!'

Kim buried her face in her hands. 'Yes, like all supernatural cartoons and movies you've watched. Other people have power animals, also called animal spirits. They're very powerful protector spirits who choose us and it can be very different from what you'd choose yourself'.

The girls looked excited at the news.

'Any questions'.

Que oncoming headache.
