Annabeth POV

We were in between The Camp and New York, and honestly it sucked.

I poked the fire with a stick. Nico was sitting on Wills lap, both talking quietly.

"Babe, what if she's hurt?"

"Then I will go all sunshine on her." Will smiled. "It is the whole reason I'm here right?"

I rolled my eyes. Yeah I knew about Nico liking Percy but it still didn't mean it wasn't awkward now, but I support his gayness. I actually think it's adorable.

We are going meet Iris tomorrow, just focus on that, I thought to myself.

I took a deep breath. Nico and Will stopped talking. "You ok Annabeth?" Will asked.

"Does worried count?" I gave a weak smile.

We talked a little after that. Nico said something cheesy like "it's too bad I don't like Percy's type." And we all cracked up.

Eventually it started getting sappy and Will and Nico started making out. I blushed and rolled over in my sleeping bag.

Grover wasn't to be seen. He said he wanted to check on some nymphs, but he hasn't returned. Yay, more things to worry about, I thought sourly.

I started to drift asleep when I hear a moan. I felt my face heat up. I sat up and faced the two boys.

Nico was laying on his back with Will in between his legs. Yes both still had clothes on, thank gods. Will had been kissing Nico's neck.

I grew redder. "If you guys are doing the dirty, go in the woods. It's not pleasureful listening to moans when I'm trying to sleep."

Nico looked horrified and Will was bright red too. I snickered and lied back down. I heard shuffling and twigs snap underneath Nico and Wills feet as they walked towards the woods.

I winced. Gross. And yet I had almost come to that with Percy...

I was doing this for him just remember that.

Just remember that.

Iris POV

I sat quietly in the court chair. I fiddled with my fingers. My foster parents had spent the entire day trying to wash the dye out of my hair but I willed the water to do nothing. Stupid parents.

"So you would like to legally change Mrs. Jackson's name to 'Amber Casey'?" The judge asked.

"Yes we would." My mother replied with a sweet tone. "Well I'm sorry but I can't do that unless Mrs. Jackson agree's." the judge turned to me and gave me a pitiful smile, I understood the message. I know you don't want this, I will help.

Bailey got up from next to my mothers seat, and came up and sat on my lap. Mother glared daggers at him but returned to her sweet smile when the judge gave her a look.

"Is it alright that he's up here?" I asked. The judge smiled and nodded.

I wrapped my arms around the small boys waist and bounced him. He giggled with delight. The thing about Bailey, is that he acted 4 but he's 10.. I don't mind at all though.

I leaned forward and whispered, "How many times did mother glare? Let's count!"

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, oh my gods 6! Wow she's not pleased!" I sarcastically remarked, Bailey and I started snickering.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Casey, but I cannot change her name if she doesn't allow, and because she's a minor she doesn't have a court opinion!" The judge argued with my mother.

"Wanna bet who wins? 10 bucks on judge." I held out my hand and Bailey shook it.

"Fine! I'm leaving come on!" My mother scowled. Bailey hopped off my lap and waited for me to stand up. "Give me a few minutes." I shooed.

I turned towards the judge who was giving me a saddened look. "You can see my bruises can't you?" I asked quietly.

"Yes, it has seems as though they take advantage on you. I apologize deeply." The judge got up and walked towards me.

The judge sighed. "I know I'm not supposed to give out personal information, but I work as a child abuse patrol cop as my second job. I know what it's like I will try to stop this I promise. My names Martin Henry."

"Thank you Mr. Henry." I thanked as he handed me a card. "Foster parents? For both you and the boy?"

"Yes sir."

"Please, call me Martin." He gave a friendly smile. I stood up and walked toward the exit side by side with him. "I'm looking for 2 foster kids of my own for me and my wife." He said quietly.

I turned in shock. "I know it seems sudden but it looks like you both need better care. Call me, and if they ever touch you again, I will have cops at the spot immediately." I nodded and promised. I stuffed the card into my pocket, safe from my foster parents.

When we reached outside my mother was holding Bailey by his wrist. She noticed me and grabbed my arm and yanked my toward the car.

I yelped in pain, her grip was as strong as steel.

"Mrs. Casey-"

"I'm leaving! Good day Mr. Henry!" She slammed the door, and we were off.

I could help wondering what it would be like to live with Martin and his wife. I guess I could maybe give it a shot someday.
