Suga
8 PM
It has started raining in the afternoon and had continued to pour until the evening.
I knew I said that I was leaving, but seeing her run out like that, I realized that I might’ve been a bit rash and inconsiderate.
However I think about it, we really are in this together, and I just can’t abandon her without solving this first.
Argh! I want to bash my head into a wall!
It’s late and Lucy isn’t back yet.
I’ve tried calling her phone but it just wouldn’t go through.
I have made her upset and I don’t know what to do.
“아빠...”
I turned around to find Ysa, standing barefoot, her little toes disappearing beneath the soft cream carpet,
dressed in her pink bunny pyjamas; her doe-like eyes looking up at me expectantly.
“Oh- hello there, what’s the matter?” I asked, kneeling down in front of her.
Her jet black curls bounced as she inclined her head to the side, pursing her baby pink lips.
“We’re hungry, when is Mama coming home?”Right.
I forgot about this.“Mama went out for a while, she’ll be back soon.”
I looked up to find Yuri looking at us from the bottom of the stairs with a knowing gleam in his eyes. “How about this,” taking her hands in mine,
I smile at her, catching her eyes.
“Why don’t you and Yuri-oppa go ahead and order us pizza while we wait for Mama. Would you like that?”
Ysa looked up, her smile brightening at the thought of pizza.
“Really? Can we have overload?” she asks- eyes hopeful.
“Anything you want, baby.” Handing her my card, I watched her run to her brother, pulling him upstairs.
Sighing to myself, I went back to watching the rain hit the glass window, the pitter-patter of the water droplets soothed me into a hypnotised state, beckoning me to close my eyes.
I had no idea how long I’d dozed off, waiting for Lucy to come back.
It wasn’t until I heard the door bell ringing that I snapped out of it and went to check the door.
“Who is it?” I asked, calling out at the receiver.
“Pizza delivery!” Came the muffled response.
“Kids, pizza’s here!” I called out to them, as I opened the door for the pizza guy.
Running down the stairs, Yuri and Ysa raced to the door holding hands and very excited to see the steaming square box.
Ysa took out the black card from her pajama pockets and with both hands, swiped it on the machine, smiling victoriously at me for this achievement.
I turned to the pizza guy and completed our payment as the kids took the box to the kitchen counter.
“Ms. Lucy isn’t here, is she?”
My head shot up at the delivery guy’s question. “You know her?”
Pizza guy smiled as he made his way out the door. “Well, of course, her café is just across our pizza place. And it doesn’t hurt that she tips us well.”
