Miami, USA,
3:00PM,
Simone Brown"Are you sure she's fine with me staying that long," I ask Melissa. She was driving me to her friend's house.
"Yeah I talked to her and she's happy to host you. You good?" She glances at me then focuses back on the road.
"I'm ok. I mean, I never thought I would be twenty-two and broke, evicted from my apartment and living at my friend's friend's house." I say. Melissa gives me a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry. Give it time. Years from now you'd have published your first of many novels, earning a decent amount of money with a mansion in each state." I chuckle at that.
I stare at the houses around this neighbourhood and frown at Melissa.
"Your friend lives in this neighbourhood?" Melissa nods just as she turns into the gate of a mansion.
I stare in awe at the structure and enormity of it as Melissa punches in the code for the gates to open. She parks behind a yellow Ferrari that's aligned with several other expensive cars.
"Don't stare too long. She loves her cars." Melissa tells me.
I hop out of the car and grab my purse and suitcase from the trunk.
Melissa is already by the door and unlocking it with her own set of keys. She walks in and I follow after. The house is spacious and way bigger inside. The floors are tiled and as you walk in the living area is on your right with leather white couches sat atop of a plush crimson fur rug. There's a seventy inch flat plasma screen television set hooked onto the wall and an Xbox with racks of games, a small hallway in between and opposite on the left there's a massive kitchen area that could be a whole house itself. It was made of glass and a tall metal fridge sat against the wall.
"You done staring?" Melissa asks and I blush.
"I'm sorry. I've never seen anything like this." I say and she smiles.
"Well, I'll leave you to it. I'm sure Rob will be down any minute. Tell her I said hi." I stare at her as she walks towards the door. It slams behind her.
"You must be Simone." I hear a heavy accented voice. I look in the direction of it's owner and I see a beautiful woman standing in a robe that exposed her bare chest.
She had these wild eyes and a dangerous look about her.
"You like what you see?" I tear my eyes from her for a moment and pull myself together.
"I'm sorry." I compose myself. Her eyes scan me up and down hungrily. She captures her lip between her teeth and tugs.
"You're sorry for what?" She asks.
I glare at her and she smirks. "Never mind," I say.
I follow her into the kitchen dragging my suitcase along with me. Robyn dives into her fridge for a bottle of champagne and two glasses from the shelf.
"I don't drink," I tell her but she barely looks at me.
"Look, there are only four rules in this house: don't bring your boyfriend or girlfriends' around I don't care what's your preference, keep your shit clean and we won't have a problem, mind your own business, and stay out of mine." Robyn says and looks to me. I nod and she turns back to opening the bottle of champagne.
It's silent for a moment and she pops the cork pouring the yellowish liquid into the two glasses. She hands me a drink and I take it hesitantly.
"Cheers to that." She raises her glass.
The glass clinks against each other and I take a sip.
