She Loves Me

Prologue

December 31st, 2009

11:50PM,
Simone Brown

I walked towards the dresser and began removing the jewellery off and wiping my face. I stare at my bare face and sigh. I hear the door to the bedroom open and Robyn walks in. She looks at me through the mirror.

"You don't know how to knock?"

"Apparently not." Robyn says throwing her cell phone on my bed.

We stare at each other through the mirror and I look away after a few seconds.

"Simone...baby...I-"

"Don't call me that. I ain't yo' baby." I scold her.

Rihanna raises her brow folding her arms across her chest. I shake my head and go back to taking off my jewellery.

"I love you Simone." She says. I look up in shock unsure if I heard her correctly.

I put down the cotton pad in my hand and turned around the face her.

"You already lost your chance with me once you chose her," I remind her. She stares at me.

"I made a mistake." I frown at her.

"I don't care. You can make up all the excuses Robyn but it won't change the fact that I'm done with you. We're done."

She walks towards me and stops in front of me. I feel my chest heave and she watches me intently.

"I never chose her. Simone I love you. I want to be with you." She gets on one knee and I shake my head.

"No. No, you can't do that." I exclaim pushing myself off the chair and I turn my back to her. "You don't get to leave and come back and do that!" I yell running a hand through my hair.

"I'll explain everything to you Simone just hear me out," Her voice breaks.

"I hear you," I cross my arms and glare at her.

"I had to leave. If I stayed they would've killed you and your family. Mia found out about the organisation and plotted with Xander to kill you in exchange for me. When the warehouse was destroyed I began investigating. That's when I came across the conversations between them and figured out their plan. I tried to stop it. I really did, but it was too late. I had to make a better offer. I traded myself in. I had to leave." I shake my head letting out a sob.

"Simone I-"

"All this time I thought you had abandoned me! You broke my heart and you think this will make up for it?" I yell at her as she tries to move towards me.

"You should've told me..." I say.

"You're right I should've told you baby, but if I did you wouldn't have let me go. You would've kept on fighting and Xander would've killed you once he had the chance. The plan had to work and I needed to keep you here where it was safe. Far away from Mia." She grits her teeth. I wipe away the fallen tears and stare at her.

"I can't live this life with you. It's too dangerous and what if one day you decide to leave again? What if you get killed?" Robyn makes her way towards me tears running down her face.

I know I still love her. She's the only person I've ever loved this much. It was hard for me to let go but I know I would only endure more suffering if I held on.

"Please baby," She falls to her knees and hugs my waist, her head on my stomach. I place my hand on her head as she sobs.

"I love you. I'm so sorry. I-I can't live without you."

I look up at the ceiling letting the tears run down my face. I unwrap her arms from me and inhale sharply.
