9:30PM,
Simone BrownIt's been three weeks since I exploded on Robyn and she hasn't spoken a word about it. She still throws her parties and disappears as usual but I've gotten used to it.
I was cooking dinner that evening with the housemaid, Marisol. I loved talking to her and hearing her stories about her home.
"How long have you been working for Robyn?" I ask as I cut up the chicken.
"Three years now. She is like a daughter to me." Marisol says. I frown.
"That's sweet," I tell her. She looks at me and half-smiles knowingly.
"She will grow onto you. Robyn may have a bad temper but she has a good heart." Marisol states. I sigh and smile at her.
When we finish cooking. I set up the table for two and invite her to eat with me.
"Are you seeing someone?" Marisol asks.
I chuckle.
"No, I don't have time for a relationship at the moment. With my economic situation and my novel, I don't think I will be anytime soon." I say and Marisol shakes her head.
"But you're a smart, beautiful girl with a nice figure. You'll get old soon enough and have nothing to show for." I laugh at her and she looks at me seriously.
"I think there's a lot that you're hiding. It consumes you. You won't trust to easily. It will take a brave heart to free you from your past. But. God always finds a way. Everybody is destined to great things." She says.
I consider her words and sigh.
"Who knows?" I shrug.
The front door opens and Robyn walks in with her arms wrapped around some girl. She makes eye contact with me but doesn't say anything.
"What's this girl doing here?" The girl points at me and she looks angry.
"She's staying here for a while." Robyn replies nonchalantly.
"You're living in a house alone with another girl! How do you expect me to be okay with this?" She yells.
"Don't start." Robyn gives her a hard look.
"You didn't even tell me someone else was here!"
The two of them continue their arguing into the living room. I let Marisol take the evening and I clean up the dishes.
As I'm heading to my room. I stop by Robyn's. I place my hand on the knob. I could still hear Robyn and her girlfriend arguing downstairs. I twist it and push open the door.
I turn on the lights and close the door behind me. It wasn't dirty with clothes everywhere like I expected. Everything was kept in order. I slowly walk towards her nightstand and pick up a picture of her and a woman. Robyn looks young in the photograph and was actually smiling.
I place the photograph down and walk into her closet. She didn't have a lot of clothes in here. Probably because she travelled a lot.
Somebody clears their throat behind me and I jolt around coming face to face with the devil herself.
"Explain to me why you're in here." She demand an angry expression on her face.
I rack my brain on what to say but can't find not one justifiable excuse. "I'm sorry."
Robyn stares at me blankly. "Come here,"
I step towards her and she wraps her hand tightly around my wrist.
