I was so stupid. I just promised him that I wouldn't let him feel as if he was alone.
I couldn't hold back my tears anymore because this hurt me more than anything. I felt guilty as if I killed a very important person that every one would talk about it when they find out about it.
I wanted to hide from everybody especially Sean.
I'm very sorry, Sean. I didn't mean to hurt you.
Twelve days have passed and I avoided Sean whenever I saw him at school. I would turn around and walked the other way when I saw him in my path. I was ashamed and I felt he hated me after what I did to him. I hope he's not.
I wanted to apologize to him because I had this weight on my shoulder because of the guilt. But I just couldn't. I needed help.
I couldn't approach my parents about it because they'll surely get mad at me for talking to a boy -- problem of having strict parents.
Denise was the friend who can give good life advices. She may not have experience it, but she felt it as she see other people's problems. So, then I texted her.
··While texting··
(Elizabeth) "Hey, where you at?"
(Denise) "Oh, honey. You know where I am. I'm at the cafeteria, eating. I told you 'If you can't find me, I'm at the cafeteria.'"
(Elizabeth) "Oh yeah, I forgot. I'm going there."
(Denise) "Cool. I have extra food here. You can eat with me."
It was three twenty-four o'clock already, so we were free on doing what we want.
As I entered the cafeteria, I saw Denise sitting at the lunch table near a charging station. I called her. She turned around and waved at me with a lettuce hanging out of her mouth.
(Elizabeth) "Hey, can I have a bite?"
(Denise) "Sure. Only a bite, okay?" - she handed me the huge, mouth-watering burger.
Ooohhh, I'm in love with this burger. It was filled with two beef patties topped with three different cheeses: mozzarella, swiss, and american, lettuce, and ketchup. Damn, I wanted to finish it.
(Elizabeth) "How much is this?" - I moaned because of the delicious taste of the burger and gave her back her burger.
(Denise) "I don't know. I think it's about 65 pesos." - she took a bite afterwards.
Wow, that was cheap for a burger that big and delicious. That was like about one US dollar and thirty cents.
(Elizabeth) "Not bad." - I nodded. "Oh, by the way..." - I continued. "...I need advices."
(Denise) "Okay, tell me the story. What happened?"
(Elizabeth) "I hurt Sean, and I just promised I wouldn't hurt him. I feel ashamed and I don't want him to look at me. Do you think he hates me?" - I grabbed a french fry afterwards.
(Denise) "Boo, you cray!" - she took a sip of her Coca-cola. - "He loves you as a best friend and best friends can't hate each other. Have I ever hated you before?"
(Elizabeth) "Well, not really, but you kept telling me to stay away from you." - I looked at her and she gave me a "what?!" face
(Denise) "You were clingy." - she patted my shoulder. - "Don't think about that, okay?" - she, then, took a bite of the burger she bought. - "Oh, don't rush yourself apologizing to him. You will feel forced and might apologize to him fakely. So, take your time."
(Elizabeth) "Oh ok, thanks, by the way, for giving me advices." - I stood up and hugged and kissed her left cheek.
(Denise) "Gross." - she wiped her cheek with her left hand.
So, I went home and tried to cool off. I grabbed the Hershey's chocolate bar I hid at the very back of the refrigerator and a can of Cola-cola. I also popped some popcorn in the microwave. I sat at the couch in the living room and watch the finale of Gravity Falls. Although, I couldn't focus on the show since Sean has been on my mind ever since I hurt him.
I'm not afraid anymore. I'll apologize to him tomorrow face-to-face.
(The next day)
It was three fifty-two o'clock and, as I believe, Sean was at the covered basketball court practicing for the upcoming game in three weeks. I was hesitant as I went there, but I didn't let this stop me from apologizing.
As I went inside, I saw him talking to his teammate, Tyler. I walked towards them and Tyler seemed to notice me going their way since he was facing me and Sean's back was towards me.
(Tyler) "Hey look, it's Elizabeth." - he informed Sean as he pointed at me. - "Hi, Elizabeth." - he raised his hand for a high-five. - "What brings you here?"
(Elizabeth) "Hi Tyler." - I gave him a high-five. - "I came here for Sean." - I noticed him look at me with the corner of my eye.
(Tyler) "Oh okay, cool. Guess I'll leave you, two, here alone." - then she faced Sean. - "Don't do anything to her, okay bro?" - he punched Sean's arm.
Sean just glared at him as a respond.
(Elizabeth) "Hey Sean, I just wanted to..." - I felt the awkwardness between us.
(Sean) "Shhh, don't say anything more." - he put his index finger on my lips to stop me from speaking.
