It was eleven fifty-two in the evening and I was lying down on my queen-sized bed surrounded by six pillows as I stared at the white ceiling just thinking about New York.

I didn't know what to expect. So I decided to close my eyes and slept.

(Five days later)

It was a Saturday afternoon, a lazy day, as I would call it. The typical thing I did every Saturdays was watching movies the whole day while eating chips and other junk foods and drinking Coca-cola. Then I heard my phone rang and saw a notification that Sean texted me.

"Can I talk to you? Meet me at Starbucks at 3. My treat."

From: Sean

I was curious since we don't really spend time with each other outside school.

So, I hurried because the nearest Starbucks was fifteen minutes away by walking and it was already two thirty o'clock. I decided to wear a grey, baggy sweater and skinny jeans paired with white converse. I also put a little mascara at the ends of my eyelashes. I also brought my sunglasses with big frames since it was sunny outside.

After fifteen minutes, I finally arrived at Starbucks and saw him sitting at one of the chairs outside waiting for me.

(Elizabeth) "Hey Sean!" - I smiled and waved at him.

(Sean) "Hey." - he smiled back.

(Elizabeth) "So, why'd you wanna talk to me here?"

(Sean) "Let's order something first. What do you want?" - he looked at me in the eyes.

Wow, his eyes were so dreamy and his voice has the perfect deep pitch.

(Sean) "Liz?" - he snapped. - "Stop staring at me like that. Am I that handsome?" - he joked with a laugh.

(Elizabeth) "You? Handsome?" - I laughed. "You know, you aren't." -I joked.

I looked back at the menu and I always got my eyes on the one.

(Elizabeth) "Hi. I'll have the venti-sized caramel frappe with extra caramel dizzle, please." - I said to the person behind the cash register.

(Sean) "Hey," -he punched me slightly. - "don't drink that much. You'll get fat." - he joked and ended with a chuckle. - "I'm just kidding. You know I love you, right?" - he said as he saw my reaction turn to an annoyed one. - "As a best friend, of course."

(Elizabeth) "Yeah, I know. So, won't you order?"

(Sean) "Ah, yeah. I'll have a grande-sized chocolate chip cream frappe." - he said to the person who took our orders.

We, then, waited for our drinks and sat down somewhere far from the window.

(Elizabeth) "So..." - I looked at him in the eyes. - "Why'd you wanna talk?"

(Sean) "You know, we're best friends, right? You're also going to New York in three years for college." - he paused for three seconds. - " I just wanna say I'm gonna miss you, a lot. I couldn't remove it from my mind since the day I first heard about it. I don't want to be away from you. I'm scared of losing you, Elizabeth."

I didn't know what to say. He only said my name only when he was serious about something, and he was very serious about it. I could see and feel it.

(Elizabeth) "I'm gonna miss you too, Sean, but I have to leave. Besides, my grandma can change her mind about it, though, that would have a little chance. You just have to accept it." - I put my left hand on top of his right hand which was resting above the table. - "I'm not gonna stay there forever, I'll come back here every summer break and Christmas season."

(Sean) "But why New York?" - I saw his eyes were starting to get watery.

Sean was a tough guy, both physically and emotionally. He rarely cried, but if he would cry, he'd be broken and hurt inside.

(Elizabeth) "I don't really make promises because I'll probably break them, but I promise to..." - I paused.

(Sean) "Promise me what?"

(Elizabeth) "I promise that I will not forget you no matter how many guys and girls I will meet. I might be across the world from you and will leave you here, but I will not let you feel alone as if you never existed in my life."

(Sean) "I can't promise you anything and you know that from experience, but I'll try my best not to hurt you physically and emotionally before you leave and during your stay in New York. You're my best friend, and I'll hate myself if you're hurt and the person who hurt you was me. I can't hurt you, Liz. I love you." - he said sincerely.

My eyes were also getting watery. I cried easily because I was a cry baby.

(Elizabeth) "I can't..." -  I stood and took my drink with me. - "I have to go." - a tear fell from my right eye.

(Sean) "Wait, Liz. Don't leave me." - he grabbed my right arm to stop me from leaving.

(Elizabeth) "I can't..." - I stood and grabbed my frappe. - "I have to go, Sean."

(Sean) "Please, Liz. Don't go!" - he exclaimed as he grabbed my right arm to stop me from leaving.

(Elizabeth) "Stop it, Sean. I want to be alone for a while."

(Sean) "Okay." - he let go of my arm. - "Whatever you say so."

So, I ran outside with my drink. Once I looked back, I saw him with a sad expression on his face.

Why was I so selfish to leave him there alone?
