You shook your head at him and bite your lip, “I’m not doing this,”
Sam’s eyes went wide and his jaw dropped and his arms went out to the side, “What? You agreed, you can’t back out of this,” He motioned to the crowd, “I have multiple witnesses!”
You looked at the crowd and noticed that everyone, but his friends, had left. You looked back at Sam, “But you blackmailed me into it!”
Sam stepped towards you and went to go wrap his arms around your waist but you backed away and held up a hand, “Not-uh, don’t come near me,”
“What? Why? I want a hug, I deserve it after that win.” Sam said, trying to convince you.
You shook your head, “You’re all sweaty and smelly,”
Sam laughed and ran his fingers through his hair, he dropped his hand and stared at you. You took a deep breath through your nose and chanted to yourself to not blush under his bright eyes, but you lost the battle and looked down. “What are you doing next weekend?” You heard Sam ask.
You looked up and heard the smart ass comment before you had time to think about it, “Not hanging out with you,”
Sam’s eyebrows reached his hairline, “Oh is that right?”
You nodded and smirked, out of the corner of your eye you saw that your sister walked out. The team had cleared out, along with the crowds clearing out. You and Sam were nearly alone, but not quite. There were the officials and the teachers that sat behind the table that had the technical compenents to run a high school basketball game. The cheerleaders had cleared out, and for a split second you wondered how your sister could ever be friends with some of them, but then Sam spoke and all thought left with his words.
“One date, is all I’m asking for and if you don’t have the least bit fun, I will leave you alone after that.” Sam said quietly.
You turned your head to the left slightly, your eyes squinting, “Promise?”
Sam nodded once, “I promise,”
“Okay, then I’ll go on a date with you.” You told him, and enjoyed the flutter your heart gave when a grin broke out on his lips, his eyes squinting in the corners and a bright light touching his eyes.
“Awesome,” He said and bite his lip, “So, uh, did your sister drive here?”
You rubbed your arm and glanced towards the door she walked out from, “Um, yeah, she knew that if she handed me the keys I wouldn’t take us here.”
Sam chuckled and you looked back at him, “I’m glad she drove,” He rubbed the back of his neck, “Do you want to grab some food with me after I change?”
You gave him a pointed look and he held up his hands, “As friends, I swear.”
You laughed and began to walk towards the door while shaking your head, “I probably shouldn’t,”
“Why not?” Sam asked, following you with his eyes and turning his body to face you. Something about his red and black basketball uniform made him look hot, sexy even, but you wouldn’t let him know that.
“You probably have a party to go too and I don’t want to keep you,” You answered with a hint of teasing.
“You aren’t keeping me; you’re the highlight of my night.” Sam smiled.
You blushed at his words, “Night, Sam, good game.”
“Bye, Y/N,” Sam called out after as you walked out of the gym and went to go find your sister.
