I have a story for y'all.
This morning, I woke up exhausted. Like, drag-your-feet, too-tired-to-yawn exhausted. I didn't understand why; my sleep last night was the same amount of sleep I always got, so why was I so tired?
I sluggishly made my lunch, which actually looked good for once, and then made breakfast, coughing through it all. I even got to read a bit before we left the house. When we left for school, I dozed through the thirty minute car ride. Here's my issue: unless I'm drugged with a buttload of Dramamine, I don't sleep in cars.
At school, first period, my back was hurting like crazy. After a mild panic attack, I amounted this to pre-period symptoms. However, in the middle of first period, I launched into a violent coughing fit. I went to the bathroom to spit out mucus, and found myself spitting blood-tinted saliva instead. After another less-mild panic attack, I sat on the dirty, gray-white tiled bathroom floor, and took a deep breath. Which rattled in my chest.
So I went over everything the past few days: my excessive coughing that started five or six days ago, which I amounted to allergies, since I get a lot of mucus in my throat in the colder months; my asthma attack the day before, in which my inhaler almost didn't help; my rattling breaths, which I blamed on asthma; and then, of course, this morning.
Basically, I almost-definitely have pneumonia and I can't get this goddamn taste of blood out of my mouth. I would suck at being a vampire (no pun intended).
While I wait to see when the doctor can see me this week (I go to a pediatric unit, so they pick-and-choose who to see first) I'll either be at school, or I won't, depending on what that doctor says. So, either I'll have the chapter up this week, or I'll collapse on the couch after school and fall asleep every day because pneumonia. We'll see. I deeply apologize. I feel like every week it's a new thing, and I'm astounded by your guys' patience so far.
Love,
A very woozy author who is wondering if this is what it feels like to be on acid.
