Hey sorry I'm late. It's school holidays so I never had time to fully update the story. I have changed the name. I thought Running was a bit boring.

Caine's P.O.V

I woke up lying on something soft and bouncy, which I presume was a bed. I was feeling numb all over and my body was stiff. I open my eyes slowly as they are still heavy. My body has recovered from the amount of energy i used. I hear a door opening, footsteps, and then the door closing. I look to see Jeff walking in with a cup of water in his hands. He notices I'm awake and silently hands over the cup. 

I take a drink and urge Jeff to say something, anything in my head. I can see in his eyes the disappointment and it makes me flinch. I can tell what he's thinking now. Probably along the lines of "how could he have so stupid. His secret is now out. What is he going to do? What am I going to do? That give or take. So I spoke up before he did.

"I know what I did was stupid but I have an honest all right explanation."

"Okay what is it then oh wise one?" he says.

"I...I was" I sigh not wanting to tell him. I don't want him to know that my mate, that Derek, rejected me. I don't want him to know I'm such a disappointment. That I can't even have my mate love me like he was suppose to. So I do what I've been doing for my whole life. I lie. “I was angry. I didn't win the race. I thought I had disappointed everyone and that no one would want to talk to me anymore. I got so angry. My emotions were all over the place and I couldn't control them. I'm sorry. So sorry. “And here comes another lie." There was no one there though. They were all inside. No one saw anything. It's okay."

“Are you sure? Are you absolutely positively sure?" He says and jeez does he sound like a very serious child.

I sigh." Yes I'm sure. Anyway how long was I asleep for?"

"Nearly four hours. Tea will be ready in thirty minutes. We're having steak, eggs and chips. You’re favourite."

"Oh yum what's the occasion?" I say excited.

“Nothing. Just thought I should treat you. You did amazing in the race. I smelt werewolves when I got to you and Cassie came over before to see you. She told me you got second place. Nearly first too. No matter what you said before, you done amazing. Especially against their pack." He assures me.

“Yeah about that. I didn't know there was a pack in this town let alone the opposing school. Why didn't you tell me? I want to know everything about them. In case. You know something might happen that's to do with them and I might need to do something to stop them or something. So tell me everything." I demand.

“Okay you're right. You should know. The pack is the Silver lining pack. Their alpha is Michael Harrison. His mate is Jenna Harrison and he has two sons and a daughter. Derek, Romeo and Naomi. That was oldest to youngest by the way. Derek, the oldest, is going to become Alpha on his nineteenth birthday in about four months but only if he finds his Luna. Their pack is very well known all over the country for being the most loyal, trustworthy and honourable. But before you ask why we didn't join their pack it was for protection. You wouldn't have gone a week without having to shift in front of them and then all hell would of broken loose. The most likely thing they would do is probably force you to mate with Naomi for powerful pups and I'm sure you wouldn’t of wanted that considering you swing for the other team. “He explains.

All I was doing was physically wincing every time Jeff mentioned Derek’s name and Derek having to find a Luna. I had only found out this morning he was my mate and I had only started going through the pain of him rejecting me. 

"Okay um when is tea going ready I'm starving." I say wanting him to go before the tears that have started building up in my eyes start flowing.

"Oh right I'll go do that now." Jeff stands up and leaves but stops at the door.

“Are you sure no one saw?" he asks suspiciously.

I laugh." Yes, yes I'm sure now go before you make my tummy burst from being too hungry. I'm a growing boy I need my nutrients."

" Caine. Your tummy won't burst. It would only burst if it was full." he says like he's explaining it to a child.

"Okay okay now go make me my food." I demand seriously. The tears are gone now and I really am starving. I can always count on Jeff to make me happy.

The next day I wake up with a pounding headache. I come to the conclusion it's my body reacting to the rejection, after I had taken two panadols. I make my way into the bathroom and look in the mirror. My hair was a mess and I've got bags under my eyes. Overall I look terrible. 

I do all the things I usually do in the morning like get dressed in a hoodie, skinny jeans and a beanie. I make my way down the hall way and find a bowl, the milk, some cereal and a note on the table. It reads

‘Caine. I've gone into town to collect for our training session tomorrow. Yeah I switched it to tomorrow. You looked pretty ragged when I checked on you this morning. I put out some cereal and milk for breakfast and set your homework on the table in the lounge. Have fun at school today and don't get in trouble for being a grumpy ass. See ya, Jeff.'

I grab my things and make my way out the back door. I lock it and make my way into the forest. I relax while I'm in there feeling my wolf wiggle around loving the smell of the plants and the wind in my face and hair. I love it in here so much. I make a decision then that I would go on a run in wolf form this afternoon.

 I arrive at school all to soon and see Cassie, Jono, Melanie and Nick already there gushing over something. I look around and see Cameron with the football players chatting. He sees me and runs over. 

“Hey how are you man? You look like-"

I cut him off. “Yeah I know. I didn't sleep well."

"Oh was it about the race yesterday. Don't worry you were amazing. I think coach was just happy you actually got second unlike everyone else on the team who all placed last by 10 minutes." he laughed out. 

“Really. Oh wow that's ages." I say feeling guilty knowing that it wasn't their fault. We reach the others to hear them talking about the 'new' kids.

Nick turns to us as Cameron and I get there. 

“Did you guys hear there are new kids today? Like five of them but what’s even more confusing is that their all from the same school."

"What do you know who they are?" I ask confused.

“Yep" Melanie buts in looking behind us. “them." she says pointing behind us.

I turn around and come face to face with Derek and his friends. CRAP.
