Derek’s P.O.V

After the race I was mostly feeling smug. I won. I'm practically the most amazing person in the world now. I beat that stupid ass 'mate' of mine. Ha yeah right. Me with a guy. Not that I have anything against them it's just that I'm an alpha not a wimp ass who needs a male for a mate. My best friend is gay so. I make my way over to my so called mate to see a girl on his back. A human girl at that. In fact if I'm correct, that whole school is filled with only the stupid, pathetic creatures they call humans. Uhg even the word human in my brain disgusts me.

I grab his wrist and it sends stupid bloody tingles in my hand. He turns around and says to his friends "just go. I'll be there in a second." They nod and go away. Finally. The stench of humans was practically rotting my nose. He turns back to me.

"Hi" he mutters pathetically.

My face turns into utter disgust. I mean a boy shouldn't act all wimpy. That means they’re really sissy’s.

"Don't talk to me you faggot. I don't want a guy as my mate. I'm an alpha so I need a Luna. Not you. So that is why I Derek Harrison is rejecting you Caine McKay as my mate." And with that I turn and head to my friends who congratulate me on my win.

“Hey man. That was great running back there. Especially with that other werewolf boy." My face turns disgusted at the mention of my mate." But I do feel sorry for those humans. I mean it was totally unfair of us to race them." Says my best mate, the gay one, Harry. Unlike me Harry is actually, well , not an asshole. He actually cares about people. 

One of my other friends Lucas, then joins the conversation.

"Dude you're such a soft cock. They’re humans. Who cares?" Lucas is just like me. A complete and utter dick. He is Harry's brother so just like Harry he has black hair and brown eyes. 

I go to agree when I feel a very strong gust of wind hit my back and the ground start to shake. I lose my balance and go to topple over but Harry catches me. We all turn around to see what’s happening and find everyone gone and Caine standing in the middle of the field. His hair was everywhere and he look utterly angry. With that look I realise the others have run and I'm left standing there with shock on my face.

Caine, my stupid, pathetic GUY mate is the fucking black wolf. 

He turns and runs into the forest. I go to follow but Harry comes back and drags me off.

I arrive home angry and pissed. I mean I just rejected the black wolf. But seriously how could he be the black wolf. He's pathetic and stupid and hot, I mean ugly. Damn did I just think that? EW I think I have to wash my brain out with bleach. But then it might ruin my wonderful brain and we couldn't have that. Anyway how could it be Caine. I would be more suited for the role. I'm amazing, hot, and smart and everyone loves me. I could do so much more with that type of power.

I go to make my way to my room when my father calls me to his office. 

“Hello son how was your race today. I heard you won. “He says.

"Oh cut the crap what do you want?"

"Excuse me. I am your father you do not talk to me like that. Now how was your day?" he repeated.

I sigh." It was amazing. I found my mate." I say trying to reframe my horror at that word.

"That's great son. When can we meet her?"

“That’s it Dad my mates a guy and he's the black wolf." I say smugly avoiding telling him about me rejecting Caine. He wouldn't be very happy and if he doesn't know then that makes it easier for me to gain Caine's trust and get his power. Something in Dad’s eyes tells me not to continue, but I do anyway.

“Okay when do we meet him?"

I pretend to sigh sadly." But Dad I don't know him that well. He goes to North Mount Sita high school and I go to south. It would never work out." I say knowing he would take the bait and send me to Caine's School.

“Oh son. Don't you worry? I'll send you, Harry, Lucas plus Lily and your sister to that school from now on. I'll send in your guy’s applications tonight. You can go tomorrow."

“Oh thank you so much, Dad this is awesome. I'll go tell the others." I say with just enough sarcasm that he doesn't suspect a thing.

I go to the lounge to see Harry and Lucas lounging around. 

“Guess what suckers. Where going to the North. Pack your schools bags. We'll be seeing some humans tomorrow." I say and leave.

I get up in the morning with a plan in my head. We, Naomi, Lily (the other girl), Harry, Lucas and I, head to school. I see Caine and his friends. I see one of his 'girl' friends point to us. Caine turns around and see's me as soon as I come face to face with him.

 ”Hello mate." I say with a smirk.
