No Longer Weak

The Begining of the End

Ibiki Morino watched the still unconscious Kisame. It had been two weeks since he was brought to him. Inoichi had already scanned through his thoughts and found many disturbing things, but the last information was too much.

"Call Hokage-sama, it's urgent." The Anbu nodded and vanished. They needed to take action. Right now, if the time limit they found was any indication. The soft click of shoes announced the Hokage before she came into the room. Her brown eyes scanned Kisame and focused on Ibiki at last. "What did you found?"

"They are coming to Hokage-sama. We have less than 24 hours."

She blanked out. Less than 24 hours. They needed reinforcement, evacuated the city, gather all supplies. The hospital needed to be stocked up. Taking a deep breath Tsunade willed her heart to go slower. "What else did you find? Why are they coming?"

"They want the Kyuubi. It was Kisame and Itachi's Mission to gather the seven tails. And personally, I think they want him back" he said, nodding at his prisoner. "They lost too many people already."

"Ok." She turned towards the Anbu. "I want the fastest messenger we have in my office. Send every Jounin to me and gather all Anbu in the headquarters. We are planning for a war." With that, she left the small room in a hurry. There was way too much planning to do.

"Hokage-sama requested your presence." That was all, but deep down in the pit of his gut, he knew something was wrong. It gave him the motivation to be punctual, actually starting to leave towards the tower. Just stopping to greet several of the other Jounin that were just in much of a hurry. "What is going on?" asked Genma who landed softly beside him, before keeping pace and running along the rooftops. "Noting good" came the soft reply of Kurenai as she landed beside them. "Every Jounin ist coming. I even have seen Shikaku Nara and Hiashi Hyuuga heading towards the Hokage."

Both men regarded her silently. This was bad. If clan heads were getting involved it never meant anything good. Landing in the overly crowded office, Kakashi felt overwhelmed.

"Quiet" shouted the Hokage and Shizune pressed Ton-Ton closer to her chest.

"After we had acquired a certain Akatsuki member, we found important information inside his head." Tsunade glared at everyone that began murmuring. "They are coming in less than 24 hours and will fight. There are not many left, but they are strong."

Shikamaru took Sakura hand in his and squeezed slightly. "We are going to be attacked. Tsunade-sama sent for all Jounin and Anbus to regroup. Even my father went."

His eyes trailed every curve of her face. Gently taking in everything he could, from the purple diamond on her forehead, over her eyelashes that grazed her cheeks, to her pale lips, that haven't moved for far too long. "We- I need you Sakura-chan" he whispered and leaned his forehead against their clasped hands. "You're worth every troublesome I complain about, but you have to wake up. You're not safe lying here."

He kissed her knuckles and frowned at his feet. "Please wake up Sakura." He shoves the chair he was sitting on the back, pushed his hands furiously inside his pockets and jumped out of the window. He never saw her hand twitching.

Naruto growled at the Anbu that were flanking him on all sides. He could walk alone. There was no need to escort him. "I want to stop at the hospital" he growled. "No" was the short answer from the Anbu in front of him. "I just need to see Sakura-chan" he shouted. "Quiet!" Angrily Naruto wanted to push through but was stopped rather forcefully. Not wanting to hurt them he accepted his fate. For now.

"What do you want Baa-chan?! I was on my way to Sakura-chan!"

"They are coming for you Naruto" her voice was tired and she looked worse than most of the time. Naruto frowned at her and suddenly understanding why Anbu had escorted him. "I'M not going to hide!"

"It's for your safety. What happened to the Kazekage can't happen to you too."

"I will kick them back to where they came from! Don't close me off! I can't let everyone fight for me! This is my fight" he shouted desperately. And he couldn't understand why they wanted his Nakama to fight for him. "I will fight WITH them!"

They stared angrily at each other. "Leave," she told the Anbu. "Hokage-sama" he warned her. "Now!" she demanded. Silently following the command the Anbus left. Naruto's eyes never left the blond. Her eyes softened and she looked back at him. "Now I understand what you want. And I'm perfectly fine with it. Just don't tell me how you do it. Just play along. If you must send a shadow clone." Naruto swallowed heavily. That was not what he had expected when she sends the Anbus away. "Thank you Baa-chan," he said with a raspy voice and left.

Their forces stood proudly with their heads held high. They would protect Konoha. And when the sun was just showing her first rays, they saw the figures approaching. Today was the day they would protect their village or die to try.

Sakura felt the rumble, the massive chakras and smelled the overwhelming smell of burnt wood. She knew something was wrong. Shikamaru told her it was. But she couldn't remember. What was happening outside? Her fingers twitched and she felt the rough cotton of a bed. A bed, maybe she should go back to sleep. Everything was better when sleeping. A scream ripped through the air, and the silence was over. Grasping for breath her eyes flew open and she was out of her bed under a second. War. Shikamaru told her they were going to war.
