I don’t know what feeling is dwelling inside of me more, the actual hunger or my thirst. Sometimes it is hard to figure out since I can survive mostly with animal meat and sometimes I also drink their blood. So when you think my vampire side you could say I am a “vegetarian.”

For couple of days I have been staying in this cave and my food supply has run out. I need to hunt but is bright day light outside. Luckily it can’t harm me since I am not full vampire. The dangerous part when going out is actually going outside itself and risk the fact someone could see me. The Organization has spies among humans also.

The cave isn’t high enough to stand so I crawl outside. Sun hurts my eyes since I haven’t seen it for a while. Normally I travel and move at night since it is safer. Vampires and werewolves are too busy to notice me at night when I move around quietly. I have become an expert to what it comes to running away.

My hand touches the sticky surface of caves wall. The scent of early morning catches my nose, forest smells incredible when there still are traces of dewdrops in flora. “Now some breakfast.” Smile covers my face and I throw my hair back and tie them on ponytail. They are messy since I don’t bother to brush it, I have not felt like doing it for some while. It is pointless since you are just with yourself that is good for nothing.

There was a sound that had nice ring on it, the calmly floating river that sometimes made bubbly sounds. There must be a river somewhere near me. “Maybe I will cook some fish today?” I smirk so my fangs were slightly showing. I started to run like a wind, sometimes I jumped to tree branches to check if it was still safe. I saw a rock that had river floating behind of it.

My eyes wander around the surroundings and I crunch down, approach the river slowly by sneaking and being ready to escape when I hear even the slightest sound of even a stick breaking. Then I froze to where I was standing. I heard someone singing. No, it was more like a humming.

It sounded like a man and I moved like a flash to peak behind of the rock. There truly was a man who had blonde hair and was wearing green long pants. He was wearing an ugly red flannel shirt with check pattern. He had a fishing had and was sitting on a chair. Suddenly my stomach growled and I pressed my hands on it. “Shit!” I whispered.

He seemed to hear me because he turned around and was watching to the spot where I was standing. “Who is it?” I heard him speak to me just when I turned around. I started to run back to my safe spot, the cave. How was I this stupid? That was the only thing running on my mind right now.

I crawled back to my cave and embraced myself. “Please don’t follow me..” I whispered to myself and closed my eyes. There was a moment of silence until I heard footsteps outside and something doing a “clap-clip-clap” sound.

I hold my breath and moved myself to be better hidden from the sight. The sound of footsteps stopped. For my horror I started to hear an echoing sound. Then the “clap-clip” and I realized that he was inside of my cave. I tried to sneak my way out when a stick..no.. a staff was blocking my way.

The man was kneeling before me on the caves entrance and I had nowhere to run. I was stuck and the only way out would have been to kill him.. drink his blood..blood.. NO! I need to stop thinking that, I can’t kill anyone.

My thoughts were interrupted when he spoke. “Where are you?” He was looking around the cave even though I was just few inches away from him. Just until that moment I hold my breath inside of me but this sure surprised me and I couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Oh, there you are.” He laughed.

Wait? I started to look into his eyes, they were blue but somehow.. somehow.. And that stick looks like.. No, it can’t be.. “So.. Are you lost?” He politely asked and I nodded.

He started to laugh. “I might be able to help you but you need to speak to me.” His hand started to move on the cave’s floor searching for something. Then his hand stopped on my knee. “Hah! I knew that there was someone. Do you need help?” He repeated the same question.

“You should leave.” I stated without much emotion in my voice. His smile faded away. “I won’t leave until I know you are alright. People don’t normally run away from other people. You know.” His expression was determined and I nodded.

He fell to ground and started to laugh deeply. “Please don’t tell me that you just used your body to answer me?” Then I started to put puzzle pieces together.. The weird stick, him not seeing me when I was just before him and his eyes.. “I am blind you know.” He smiled.

“Oh, sorry..” I blushed from embarrassment. “Are you lost?” I shrug my shoulders and then remembered that he needs actual answers. “No, I don’t think so.” He seemed confused. “Don’t say that you live in a cave?”

My feeling was annoyed. “So what if I do!” I raised my voice. He showed me a sign to calm down with his hands. “Sorry.. it is just that you’re a girl and caves and girls don’t fit in my mind.”

“WELL THEY DO FIT JUST FINE!” I yelled and he was chuckling. “And how did you find me anyway since you cant see?” I tried to change topic. “You move loudly.” he answered quickly. Me, loud? Ok, didn’t see that coming. I need to change my style or others might find me too.

“Aaron.” I heard him talk. “What?” I furrowed my eyebrows. “Name is Aaron. Yours is?” He smiled and made me think that maybe I could tell him just that. “My name is Rosalie.”

“So Rosalie -” he smirked, “- mind if I touch your face. It is easier for me to speak to you when I can figure out how people actually look like. “ His hands were now on my cheeks and I tried to make sure that he won’t feel my fangs.

He was concentrating while his thumbs draw my cheek bone line then he run his thumbs over my nose. I closed my eyes and felt his fingers now moving on my eyebrows. His other hand touched my hair, first it quickly retreated when touching my mess of a hair then going back. Just when he was about to finish I opened my eyes and saw that his front finger was closing my lips. Slowly his finger examined my lips.

My face must have been bright red after his examination. It felt weird to have someone touch you so eagerly to know every part of your face. Weirder than when someone just stares your face and does the same thing with their eyes. My heart was beating like crazy and I had to swallow the lumpy feeling away from my throat.

He was smiling again. “Thank you Rosalie. You are not bad looking.” He laughed and made me confused,  how can blind people actually see how people look. Just when I was figuring that out he answered to my unspoken question. “Your face is symmetrical and I just try to imagine a lot. I was born blind so I don’t know much about colors so you don’t need to fill me in with the details.” He smirked.

“Thanks..” I stared at the ground and hoped that he would leave soon instead he threw me a question. “Would you come with me? I would like to offer you some food and shower. “ Oh shit, he definitely noticed my hair that had leaves and was tangled.

I need to refuse. “Well…” He interrupted me. “Hey, c’mon! I just caught a huge fish and cant eat it all by myself.. please!” His voice was excited and well..I felt hungry and it would resolve my problem. I swear that if I don’t eat soon I might tear his throat since I can already hear his blood bumping inside of his veins.

“Alright.. a shower and meal.. That is it!” Smile was cunningly trying to take over my face. He took my hand and leaded me outside. He walked in front of me and used his stick to guide him through rocky surroundings. “So..how can you move in forest? I mean that stick can’t be all to it.” I tried to start a conversation while we went to fetch his fishing gear.

He made an amused sound. “A stick, haha! It is a cane for the blind. No, it is not the cane that helps me out here. “ Then he touched twice his head with his front finger. “I have a map inside of my head, I know every tree and rock. My father used to bring me here.”

“Oh… Where is he now?” His expression seemed a bit bothered. “He died few years ago with my mother. Their plane crashed when they left to business trip.” My heart sank. “Oh, I am sorry.” He just nodded and we kept on walking with silence.
