CHAPTER 1
I opened my eyes , just to see darkness everywhere.Its usual for me though.Lying on the old worn out mattress in my room gazing at nothing but darkness , not even a faintest bit of light. What is this darkness you may ask?Darkness here is nothing but the fact that I cannot see.I’m blind not from birth but caused due to a phase in my life that makes me shiver when I think of it.
I was seven years old when my parents spilt. I was a very unstable kid from the age of seven. Hearing the fights , the screaming ,the tears my mother used to shed , it made me tremble, it made me feel insecure , pain, frustration , anger, I did not know how to describe it at the age of seven , but whatever it was it left me blinded for the rest of my life. I curse my parents for my blindness. They never thought of me. The result of this made me feel I lacked love from the people who were my world.I don’t know maybe it was sadness or maybe it was some other feeling that made me blind but scientifically speaking , the doctors said it was mental depression that causes one to react . They say that because of mental depression many things are possible, some people lose their memory , some lose their thinking ability, some become paralyzed but in my case it affected my eyes.
As for the present , myself Lia Kingsley, a girl of eighteen, living with my grandmother Paula Kingsley after being abandoned by my parents after the spilt.They went their own way leaving me with my grandmother who I usually call as Paula. Paula at first found it very difficult to get used to me, we had never met before I was seven. It was only after that one cool winter evening that my mom drove me up to Paula house and told her that I’m her grand-daughter and now she’s got to look after me cause she was going to move on with her life. Paula hated it at first having to have to look after a blind girl like me when she herself is old. But what choice did she have?
Therefore that left me as Lia Kingsley living in LittleHampton beach in Englang with Paula.
