I flew through the training room, shooting arrows out of my crossbow.
"Aww yeah!!!" I zipped past some monsters before shooting them back, helping out Lance and Axl.
"Aaron! We kinda need you here!" I turned on my shield to see Macy and Clay surrounded by a pack of red globlins.
"Here comes the sting!" I called out my catchphrase and shot some to clear a path for them to escape.
"It's a good thing you heard me." Macy sighed as our surroundings vaporized away.
"Good job guys, we're getting faster and better at defending them off." Clay smiled.
"Yeah!" I shouted.
"I'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you all that Wren will continue staying with us on the Fortrex. She'd normally stay in a dorm at the academy, but she no longer has a family. That's why we're going to substitute for that."
"Wait, so in other words, Clay is Knight Dad, Macy is Knight Mom, Axl and I are Knight bros and Aaron is.......the dog." Lance said as if this was some joke.
"Hey!" I shouted at him.
"Lance, this is serious, Wren's mother is gone. She has no one else who can care for her. We got to be there for her." Clay whacked Lance's head.
I thought about this for a second. If Wren's moving in, I am going to hardcore read that book I got cover to cover. Or at least the werewolf section.
_____
"Let see here...." I flipped through the pages, dust flying off the pages and into my nose. I coughed from that.
Finally, the page entitled 'Werewolves', stood face to face with me.
"Werewolves have been here from the times of wizards. They have disappeared and are seemingly fictional. Though some say they have seen them. They enjoy the pleasure in killing other animals and roaming freely in the wild as solitary savage creatures. If you happen see one, DO NOT approach it."
I closed the book shut after that.
It was only the first paragraph but that wasn't anything like Wren!
She was sweet, and shy, but she was feisty when she wanted to be. She couldn't help it, it was in her nature to do that.
Wren.
I should talk to her.
I walk out from my room and go to Wren's new room, where I see her writing in what looked like a diary. She didn't seem to notice me though.
"Uh.....need any help here?" I asked. Wren whipped around so fast, I thought her neck had cracked.
"A-Aaron!" She stared at me, immediately shutting the journal in her hands. I chuckled at her flustered expression.
I noticed her ears started poking out, so I quickly closed and locked the door behind me. I then took one of Wren's ears and tucked it behind her hair. I never realized just how fluffy and soft her hair was......
Wren pulled back before I could do the other ear though. She stared at me shocked and put a hand where I had just tucked an ear in place.
"P-please don't do that.......my ears are sensitive....." She let out a small doggish whimper.
"Sorry, I just didn't want anyone to see." I told her.
Wren slowly took the other ear and tucked it in place, sighing out in relief.
"Why'd you come here?" She sternly looked at me. There's the feistiness I knew. I walked over to her and then sat down next to her on her bed.
"I just wanted to see you. How are you handling things so far with the full moon coming closer?" I asked her.
"Uh.....well, I think I'm going through my phases." Wren scratched the back of her neck sheepishly.
"Oh? What do you mean think?" I questioned.
"Well there's four phases I usually go through before the full moon, first I start getting more aggressive and territorial, second, I get more and more hungry, third I start having headaches at random times, and fourthly, I basically grow out of control. Currently, I'm on my uh......third phase." Wren listed all that happened to her before a full moon.
"Wow, that must be really difficult for you to keep to yourself. How do you make sure no one hears you on the full moon?" I put a hand on her shoulder.
"I lock the door to my dorm and then I hold myself down in silver chains. Which I absolutely hate." Wren hissed. She then gave out a yelp which she immediately regretted to do and cover her mouth, wincing and holding on her head. She curled up in a tight ball on her bed.
"Wren, are you okay?" I jumped off the bed to give her some space.
"I-I'm having a headache right now....." She whimpered out in pain. Woah, were her headaches really that bad?
I got an idea and headed back to my room. I searched around until I found what I was looking for. I then speedily headed back to Wren's room.
"Here, it's not much but it's what my mom gave me to help whenever I felt down or sick when I was little." I smiled and placed down a stuffed fox that wasn't in the best of conditions.
"T-thanks...." She looked at me with eyes filled with gratitude, her pain seemed to be subsiding a bit.
After some time, she dozed off. My fox was clutched in between her arms, so I decided to leave ever so quietly.
Goodnight.....
