Max woke up the next day feeling a bit better. It was easier to get out of bed and she was even kind of hungry. She yawned and scratched her head, which was extremely greasy. Then she remembered she hadn't showered in almost a week. Well she wasn't tired, she might as well.
As she went to open her door to go to the shower room the door suddenly swung open.
"What the he-" she said as Victoria barged into the room.
"Lock the door lock the door!" Victoria said. Max furrowed her eyebrows and did as she was told. Victoria sat on Max's bed with a huff and tossed the books she was holding to the side.
After Chloe's funeral the too girls had gotten closer, on account of the fact that Max had completely broken down on Victoria's shoulder. Ever since then Victoria had always called and texted making sure Max was okay (which Max would either lie and say she was or didn't answer at all). Victoria was the only one who could somewhat relate to what Max was going through.
After all, she had lost a best friend too.
"Sorry for the scare Max," she said, wiping her sweat from her brow, "Juliet just wanted to interview me for some bullshit column in her bullshit newspaper and I didn't even have the energy to tell her to fuck off."
"But you had the energy to run to my room?" Max quirked up an eyebrow, amused.
"Well I also had to give you your homework. In my defence, I didn't think you would be awake yet." Victoria didn't mean it as mean, she was just stating a fact; Max had seldom been awake before 4pm on a good day. But she still felt shitty.
"Oh sorry..." she mumbled embarrassed. Victoria rubbed her arm, sympathetically. It was probably all sweaty and sticky and gross. Max was surprised Victoria didn't pull her hand back in disgust.
"Hey, don't be sorry okay? You can't help how you feel. But I am glad to see that you're doing better."
"Yeah. Kate came over yesterday and brought me breakfast and cookies." The taller girl smiled and shook her head.
"Kate is just too cute..." Max raised her eyebrows at Victoria but didn't say anything. Victoria had always seemed to have a crush on Kate even when they were little kids. She had always denied it, but for a girl who supposedly didn't like Kate, she sure talked about her an awful lot. They had become closer ever since Chloe died and Nathan went to jail, because Kate was the first one to offer to go with her to visit him. Victoria had apologized for everything, even upon Nathan and Mr. Jeffersons behalf, and Kate, being the walking angel she is, forgave her.
Victoria handed her two textbooks and an art book and said "Kate told me to give these to you since she had somewhere to be. It's just some art, science— I may or may not have slipped a little cheat sheet in there just in case— and some reading for photography. We got a new teacher. Her name is Ms. Adrenaz She's really nice." Max nodded, listening as Victoria went on
"Do you think you can take all my old work? I finished it." Victoria's eyes widened.
"In like, a day? How did you even manage?" Max shrugged.
"My mind was working overdrive last night." Victoria didn't question her any further, she just took Max's finished work, bid her farewell and left. Max picked up her shower caddy that she had tossed aside, grabbed some new, clean clothes from her closet (which was almost empty. She really needed to get back on her shit and do some laundry) and went to the shower room. A few girls were in there, like Stella and Brooke. They both stared at Max as though she was an alien from one of their little sifi films. While it was rude and made Max uncomfortable, she could see why they were shocked.
No one except for Kate, Victoria and sometimes Dana had seen Max since the funeral. Even before, she mostly just stayed in her room.
Max smiled at them, nodding in greeting and got into her the shower, and boy did it feel GOOD! As she scrubbed her body she could feel the stink leaving her, and her mind was finally relaxed. She could almost forget the shit storm that was her life. Almost. Then she remembered what had happened last night. It was still so strange to her. She had memories, everyone did. But none of her were that in detail. What she experienced yesterday was like a movie or something. Was this a new part of her powers? She hadn't used them since Chloe died, so she had just assumed they had gone away. Or maybe it was just a one time thing. Yeah, probably. Her mind was just getting used to actually having to think and be used so her thoughts were working on overdrive, and she was looking at a picture of Chloe, which was what triggered the memory.
It was bullshit, but Max forced herself to believe it.
After a few more minutes of scrubbing the yuck off of her body and out of her hair, Max grabbed her towel and patted herself down, carefully slipping on her ripped jeans and yellow long sleeve, tying her hoodie around her waist because it was still kind of muggy from the hot shower.
She went to the sink and brushed her teeth, combed her hair and scrubbed her face some more. She inspected herself in the mirror. Her eye bags were still there, and her face was still extremely thin, as well as the rest of her body. But she still looked different. Her eyes weren't ass dull and glossed over. She felt different too.
She didn't feel numb.

After watering Lisa (it was a wonder how she managed to stay alive all this time. Probably with the help of a little blonde Christian girl named Kate) Max slipped on her beat up grey converse and decided to take a walk around campus. Some fresh air after awhile would do her a world of good.As she walked she could feel all eyes on her. Their stares were like pins and needles poking into her skin and she wondered if this was how Kate felt every time she stepped outside knowing that half the school had seen her video. Or if Victoria felt like that because she was— is?— a member of the Vortex Club so all eyes were on her, but always for good reasons. She wondered if that's how Rachel Amber felt because she was Blackwells golden child.
She caught herself wondering about Chloe, but she stopped herself.
Not today. Not now.
Max found a spot under a shady tree and sat under it. It felt good to be outside. She almost forgot what having the sun kiss her face felt like, or what the wind dancing around your body felt like. It was finally starting to feel like fall. A bright orange leaf fell from the tree and onto her thigh. She giggled and snapped a picture of it, gluing it into her journal. The brunette sighed and rested her head against the tree.
It just felt so good to finally feel like herself.

Hey guys how you doin? I hope you're doing good. I'm doing okay, I'm kinda tired though. But I hope you enjoyed chapter two. It's kind of sloppy I'll admit but I had a bunch of ideas and I didn't really know what to do with em so I just wrote this down. I hope you still enjoy it though.
I decided that I'll write my story like this: one chapter of Max looking through her scrapbook and then the next chapter of her doing normal Max things so you can see them grow up, and also see Max's recovery process. Next chapter is a flashback (:Anyways, I hope you enjoy, don't forget to drink water, eat a snack and take care of yourselves 💙
