Max sucked in a breath as she waited for all the students to leave the classroom. Victoria squeezed her shoulder and whispered 'we'll be outside if you need us'. Max just barely nodded. The thought of having to speak to Ms. Adrenaz, alone, made Max feel extremely ill, and she was afraid she would get sick all over the table if she opened her mouth. As the last of the students left, Max slowly got up and made her way to the front of the classroom. Her legs felt like jelly and her stomach was doing flips.

'What could she possibly want?' Max thought to herself. When she finally got to the desk she managed to say, "You wanted to see me, Ms. Adrenaz?" Ms. Adrenaz, who was marking some of the collages, put her red pen down, looked up at Max and smiled.

"I did. How are you Max?" Max shrugged.

"Okay, I guess. Well, I mean I am right now." Ms. Adrenaz chuckled softly.

"Max, no need to be so frightened." She nodded at Max's hands, that were gripped so tightly around her messenger bag that her knuckles were turning white. "I know it's probably very hard for you to trust me, but I won't hurt you."

"Sorry," Max mumbled, and shoved her hands in her jean pockets. "So, er, what was it that you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Oh, I really just wanted to welcome you back to class, y'know? And to remind you that if you're having trouble with school work or whatever that I'm here." She smiled at the younger photographer and Max couldn't help but smile back.

"Oh, thanks Ms. Adrenaz."

"Alright. See you around, Max." Max nodded, re-adjusted her bag and left the classroom. As she walked out, Courtney linked arms with Max, which made her jump, but when she saw that she wasn't in any danger she relaxed.

"What did she want?" Taylor asked. Max shrugged and said, "Not much, really. She just wanted to welcome me back to class."

"That was nice of her," Kate said. Max nodded. The group of girls offered to take Max out, but she politely declined.

"I'm actually kind of tired," she told them. "Maybe some other time?" The four girls nodded, and walked Max to the girls dorms.

They all hugged her goodbye and went their separate ways. Max went straight up to her room to start on her homework. She only really had science homework today, considering it was her first day back, and she had managed to get pretty caught up with the work. So she managed to blow through the work and then took a short nap. Well, she thought it was a short nap. When she woke up it was almost eleven at night. Max groaned as she sat up in bed and ran a hand through her messy hair. "Fuck," she groaned. There was no way she was going back to sleep now. 'Of course my dumbass would forget to set an alarm,' she thought. 'Might as well change...' She threw on some pajama pants and her baggy Coldplay t-shirt (that was also the day Max realized how much of a bitch sleeping in jeans is. It didn't hurt, but those red welts are itchy as fuck. -1000/10 would never recommend). After she changed, she ate a couple granola bars that Kate had given her then went through one of the boxes that Joyce had given her.

Max had almost managed to go through the whole box without crying. Most of it was just someone of Chloe's snow globes and little knickknacks. Then she got to the blanket.

"Oh my god," Max whispered holding up the blanket. It was a tattered up black pirate blanket with a large scull and crossbones. The two girls spent many sleepovers together wrapped up in that sheet, eating snacks and watching movies. Hot tears dripped of her chin, as she remembered the first time she and Chloe snuggled together in this blanket. Wrapping the sheet around her, she went to the nightstand where the sketchbook laid waiting for her. She curled up on her bed and opened the book to a page where she and Chloe slept in a little fort, blanket wrapped around them and a mess of snacks littered everywhere.
