They were only staying on the island for a week. Baekhyun met up with some of the old friends that stayed. Many left for the mainland. Out of the ten people in their group, only four remained. After a few drinks in and catching up, they started to talk about the stories when they were still in high school.
He was not soon enough to stop Junmyeon from calling his "childhood friend" and his "childhood friend's girlfriend" to come as well.
The girl was funny and talkative. No wonder He likes her. When she smiled, she also had a dimple in the corner of her mouth. Matches with His.
Baekhyun sat on the armchair and drank from his can of beer. He stared off into space and did not notice Yixing walking towards him until he spoke.
"Long time no see, " Yixing stood in front of him, "a glass?" He offered him a glass of wine.
Baekhyun had no reason to refuse, so he touched glasses with Yixing and they both emptied their glasses.
Yixing walked back to his girlfriend. Baekhyun was a little dizzy, maybe from the drink; he blatantly stared the couple. Yixing did not change. Maybe he had a little more muscles; he was not as thin and looked healthier.
Yixing wore a black shirt with cream colored seashells as buttons. Baekhyun lowered his head and chuckled bitterly.
He had never imagined. A moment where he could only look at Yixing from far away.
Bittersweet.
Baekhyun carried his suitcase upstairs to his room. The traffic noises outside of his window pulled him back from what seemed like a dream. But he knew, it was not. He did not move from his bed; he promised his dad that he will definitely unpack tomorrow.
Baekhyun had a restless night.
While he was putting back his clothes neatly from his suitcase, he remembered what his dad had told him. He ran down to his father's office and searched for an empty notebook. He remembered that there were a lot of them he had never used as a kid, from all the times he had tried to start a diary.
Baekhyun dug up an old-looking diary. He opened to check if it was empty. The diary was filled with his dad's handwriting. It was his father's privacy, Baekhyun closed it immediately. But it was a little worn, the last page of the diary fell out. Baekhyun put the page back in and unintentionally, he glanced over the paper.
He dropped the diary onto the wooden floor.
The year said 1990.
Today, he got married.
