"So, you going to join a club?" Danika asked, her hand wrapped around a fork, the tomato dangling off the end as she waited for a reply.
The mess hall as always was busy, soft chatter of students conversing and enjoying their dinner. I looked up across to Danika, but that wasn't my focus, my eyes darting to behind her shoulder as I watched Harrison, an arm each draped around the shoulders of a girl. Danika lifted her brow at me and turned her head to see what it was I was gawking at.
"Ugh, look at this, Amelia." Danika poked Amelia who dropped her fork and turned in her seat to see. "Your brother is working over time." Amelia shook her head and laughed but that wasn't what got my attention.
"Is it honestly that bad?" I looked to both girls, they exchanged a look before Danika laughed heartily and Amelia shook her head with a small smile. "That is a yes." I said seriously, humor bubbling in my chest at the situation but not spilling out.
"He is a player of the highest caliber. The kind that is so good at it that he doesn't even hide the fact he is one and still girls want him. I mean, just look at him, two girls by his side yet every girl he passes is still making eyes at him." Danika shook her head in disgust and Amelia took a page out of Danika's book, rolling her pretty greens.
"And it's not like girls are fighting over him either. Oh no, he is so smooth that he makes them all feel like they are the bad guys for wanting him to not be a player." Amelia added, she wasn't proud when she spoke of the subject, clear dislike of her brother's habits written on her face. Danika shook her head as she laughed, stabbing her spinach salad with her fork. I shook my head while Amelia rolled her eyes.
"Why thank you, Danny. I never thought you would say such wonderful things about me." A deep voice broke our moment as we all turned our heads to the tall blonde, bulky male standing behind Amelia.
No one had even seen or heard him walk up, so caught up in our own conversation. He was smiling his boyish smile as he looked at Danika, charming and engaging. I could see the appeal of him for other girls, he was for sure eye candy.
"Ugh, I just lost my appetite." Danika pushed her tray away from her.
It didn't deter Harrison though, laughing heartily, as he moved to take the seat beside Amelia, his arm draping over the back of her chair casually. It just happened to be the seat that was also next to Danika. Amelia looked at her older brother, a small glare in his direction before she turned back to her own salad and pasta.
"What are you even doing here? I thought this was the time you hooked up with girls in the stairwells?" Danika asked. I resisted the urge to add the library to that list, it was a very hard thing to resist.
I could tell she didn't really want an answer, just for him to leave, as she tried to move her chair further away from him. He stopped her, a hand shooting out to grab the bottom of her chair and keep her from moving. Danika glared at him, angling her body as far from him as possible without falling. I watched highly amused, the need to laugh bubbling in my chest, so close to the surface.
"Note to self, stay out of stairwells at dinner time." Amelia mumbled lowly to herself, though we all heard her, causing Danika to laugh, me to snort softly and cough to hide it while Harrison glared at his sister. "What?" She said, as she averted her eyes, ignoring his.
"Harrison." A female voice cooed, causing us to look up.
The merry band were heading our way, looking at the way he had one arm around Amelia's seat and the other holding onto Danika's. Melissa smiled at him when he turned his eyes up to look at her. He didn't hold back his megawatt smile; I could almost hear the heartbeats pick up at his smile.
