Ch. 7 Answers (Kit POV)

Kit POV

"Who could've done this to him, Beam? And where is Pha?" I asked resting my head against his shoulder.

He lays his head atop mine and says "I dunno Kitty but I am sure we will find out soon. Let's just focus on being here for Nong Yo."

"You're right but he looks like he's in so much pain. I wish there was more we could do to help like were doctors too for christ sakes and it hurts seeing a patient so helpless especially when that patient is our friend!" I say angrily.

"Shhh Kit. You'll wake up Yo." Beam scolds me softly.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," I whisper as I heaved a soft sigh.

I look over at Yo he starts to toss around after my rant. He lets out an adorable yawn.

"Sorry Yo! I didn't mean to wake you." I apologize.

He jumps a little because my voice must have surprised him since he hasn't heard or seen me in a long time. He rubs his eyes checking if he's seeing correctly.

"Beam? Kit?" He says

"In the flesh," I say smiling.

"What are you guys doing here?" He asks curiously wondering what's going on.

"We saw Ming downstairs and he brought us here and told us to watch you. Are you okay? What happened and where is Pha?" I ask.

Saying Pha's name seemed to have made him wince in pain. He seemed to jump at the name. Why I wondered?

"I'm here because of him." Yo answers softly.

His voice sounded so distant so full of pain that I felt his sorrow.

"Because of him?" I question cautiously.

"It's because of Pha that I am here in this hospital bed before you." He says

I look at Beam both him and I taken back by the words that were just said. What does he mean Pha did this to him? I thought.

"I know what you're thinking. What do I mean Pha put me in here?" he turns his head back towards us tears streaming down his face 

"I wouldn't believe it myself if I were in your position. But Pha has been abusing me for months with no end in sight. He almost killed me if it weren't for Ming and Forth."

Was Pha capable of doing this? Was Yo sure? Doesn't Pha love Yo? Why would he do this? All these questions were running through my head. This information was too much to handle that I had nothing to say.

Beam broke the silence by asking "Why did he do this to you Yo? Why didn't you tell anyone?"

"Because I was the root of his despair everything was my fault. Pha got fired because I showed him affection at work and they didn't want people like us working with him. Even his own parents disowned him. We had kept it a secret from them as well. After that incident, Pha came home drunk and hit me. I was so scared he was going to kill me. But I deserved everything that came to me. I caused him so much pain and suffering." Yo says while crying his eyes out.

"No..." I shook my head "It's not your fault Nong Yo. It's Phana's fault. He may be our best friend but what he did is unforgivable. Neither of you deserved what happened that day. But Pha blaming you and you blaming yourself was not the answer. Don't beat yourself up for what happened to Pha. He could've handled it differently. So please Yo do not keep blaming yourself." I tell him.

"He's right Nong Yo," Beam says backing up my statement.

I hoped my words got through to him. I couldn't tell because all he had was a blank distant look in his eyes. I go to put my hand on his shoulder to show him that it's okay but he flinched at my touch.

"Sorry, P'Kit. It was just an instinctive reaction." He says.

I felt sorry for him. I wish we as his friends could do more for him. I still can't believe he did this to Yo. I am gonna see if we can get some answers from Pha.

"Uhm Yo?"

"Yes, P'Kit?"

"Do you happen to know where Pha is?"

"No" he shakes his head "but I'm sure Ming and Forth do. They came to my rescue so I am sure they know what happened. I'm not sure because Pha knocked me unconscious." he says.

Just as we talked about them they walked through the door. Ming just walked in and leaned against the wall not saying a word not even a hey. Something was up but it wasn't my business to interfere.

"You're finally awake you sleepy head." teases Forth as he looks at Yo.

Yo could only nod. The awkwardness and tension between Yo and Ming were so thick that if it were in the form of a string it would be impossible to break.

"Nice to see you, Beam and Kit. Long-time no see." Forth says giving a small wave to us.

"Nice to see you too Forth," Beam says.

I still couldn't get over the awkwardness so I looked at Beam to signal that we should go. He nodded at me.

"We're gonna head out now guys. We'll come and visit you again Nong Yo." Beam says.

We get up and wave goodbye to Yo. He gives us a small wave back. As we walked to the door Beam went on ahead out the door but I stopped and turned to Ming.

I whisper to him, "Where's Pha? I'm gonna get answers from him." he looks at me with a bit of confusion and agitation "don't worry we know what happened. We're doing this for Yo's sake and to get some answers around here since everyone is being vague about things."

Ming lets out a sigh and says "He's at the police station was the last time I heard. Forth said he was in custody probably for further investigation and questioning of what happened."

I nod at him and mouth a 'Thank You'. I walk out the door and see Beam waiting for me.

"Let's head to the Police Station," I ordered Beam didn't question me probably knowing what we were going to do anyway.

He nodded and we headed out of the hospital and towards the Police Station. Hopefully, the cops will let us talk to Pha.
