Your POV
Struggling to open my eyes, I slowly woke up from my deep slumber. I gave myself a little pat on the shoulder for waking up at 4 AM on my own. Unlike how dad usually has to wake me up with an unpleasant expression, this time I could make him proud with my little achievement.
My eyes scanned the dark, moisty room, looking for any kind of source of light. Dark shadowy figures in the room causing me to get chills. I squinted at what could either be my coat hanging on the closet, or Satan standing very still.
"Dear, she didn't do anything wrong. There's no need to be so angry with her." The voice of Mikoto reached all the way to my room. Ears twitching, I slowed down my breathing to listen in on their conversation. "However right that may be, she just never fails to somehow cause me a headache. If only that damned women took that child with her in death, we wouldn't be in this situation!"
Biting my lip, droplets of tears started to roll down my round cheeks. I didn't completely understand their conversation, but what I did know for sure is that father is mad, and when father is mad, my life gets a tad bit more difficult. He tends to take his anger out on me. Things like deliberately ignoring me, not feeding me, training me till I can't move a muscle in my body.
"My, you can't talk like that! How can you be so cruel to your own daughter!" Mikoto replied, shock and disappointment lacing in her voice. Yeah, she's kind of nice. But I didn't exactly like her. She didn't mean anything to me. Just, the wife of my father. The lady that caused the divorce between my parents. I didn't hate her for it, everyone knew that those two wouldn't last afterall.
Having about enough of them badmouthing me and my dear mother, I made my way over to the spiral stairs in the corner of my dark basement room. The lound sounds of the big chain hitting the floor as I walked was something I got completely used to by now.
With my little hand, I banged onto the stairs, looking at the door all the way up. "She's awake. I'll be back." I could hear my father say. As I waited patiently for him to come, my eyes kept looking back to Satan, making sure that he isn't moving. I wasn't planning on letting Satan nor any of the shadowy monsters kill me. So I had to make sure that Satan didn't just step closer a millimeter, I went back to looking at the door upstairs.
The door opened, allowing a little bit of light to come through. I climbed onto the first step of the stairs, eager to see more of the comforting light.
"D-daddy?" My high pitched voice squeaked out. I looked at the big outline of my father. Without a reply, he flicked the lights of my room on.
The sudden light made me go blind, I squeezed my eyes shut tightly before letting them adjust to the brightness. Meanwhile I could hear the stairs squeak as my father neared me.
Now my father stood right infront of me. He glared down at my small figure and crouched to unbuckle the heavy chain from around my ankle.
He shoved me aside and sat onto the bed, "Get ready, we are heading out." My eyes lit up, all the earlier sadness disappearing, being replaced by my excitement. "Yay!! Where are we going daddy!!" I cheered, a big smile stretching across my face.
