"Mom, do you have my black leggings?" Savanna Waters yelled from the top of the stairs, early on a Monday morning. Her mother—Stacy—replied, "Yes, I just washed them." Savanna went downstairs and grabbed them with a huge smile on her face. Finally, the first day of high school is here, she thought to herself. Savanna had an extremely boring summer, full of her older brother's football games and her younger sister's singing lessons. Savanna had always been the one kid in the class who was very shy and only had 2 or 3 close friends. Now that high school was here, maybe she would become more outgoing.

"Savanna, go get your brother and tell him the bus is here," said Mrs. Waters. "Okay, be right back," she replied. While running up to the front porch, Savanna saw a piece of paper lying on the wet ground. She picked it up and continued up the porch stairs. "Austin," she yelled "the bus is leaving in 2 minutes!" Austin came running down the stairs, his hair flailing everywhere, because he woke up late. "You excited, for the big '9th grade'?" he asked Savanna. "Yeah, I plan on being more outgoing, rather than just sitting in the corner and reading a book." Austin replied with a slight nod and a look that likely meant, 'yeah right'.
"I love you both and I hope you have a wonderful first day back!" Stacy said while hugging both Savanna and Austin. "We will," they assured her with huge smiles on their faces. The moment Savanna got onto the bus, she got a queasy feeling in her stomach, everybody was staring at her and whispering to their friends. She decided to go straight to the back of the bus. Great, I'm not so sure about that outgoing thing anymore, she thought to herself.
