The bus arrived at the school 10 minutes early, so Savanna texted Rosa—her best friend—to see where she was.
Ding, ding.
Rosa replied, "Outside of the front doors. U?"
"I'm on my way over there now. Cya soon!!"
"YAY!! Cya!" Rosa responded.
As soon as Savanna saw Rosa, she waved and ran up to her. "Long time no see. How was your summer, Sav?" Rosa asked. With a smile on her face, Savanna said, "The usual, boring and all about Austin and Ava. I am so glad to hear somebody calling me something other than 'stupid' or 'sweetie'." "Aw, I'm sorry your summer wasn't fun. I wish we could've hung out more." Rosa said. "Me too. It sucks that your mom made you go all the way to Australia without her, because she got sick. Was it any fun?" Savanna asked her. "Yeah, I guess, the only bad part other than my mom not going was that I got a small cold out there." Sav nodded her head and the doors of the school opened, so they could enter.
The first thing that they could see was a huge poster that read, 'Dance Company: In need of new members!' "Hey Sav and Rosa, over here," their friend Kaitlyn was waving to them. Savanna and Rosa looked at each other, counted down—3, 2, 1—and ran to Kaitlyn. They had not seen each other since the last day of middle school. "How's life?" Kaitlyn asked them. "Life is great!" Rosa and Savanna said sarcastically and in sync. "Well, should we head to our first class of high school?" Kaitlyn asked, while pointing forward. "Yup!" Rosa said. "Why, of course," Savanna said with an exaggerated accent. "I didn't realize how much I missed you guys," Rosa said with a smile on her face.
