The next day, Tom had gone home to get some more clothes. Stevie was spending time with her girls and baby boy.
Hayley held Aaron's hands helping him stand up and Stevie was kneeling on the floor.
Stevie held her arms out and said. "Come on baby boy walk to mommy!"
Aaron smiled and took a few steps still holding onto Hayley's hands."Ma-ma!" Aaron said excitedly; he had learned to say mama a few weeks back.
Sara and Emily watched on and cheered on their baby brother.Hayley smiled and let go of one of Aaron's hands and he walked a few more steps. Finally, Hayley let go completely and Aaron walked two more steps towards Stevie before he realized his big sister had let go. He stopped and sat down on the floor then crawled the rest of the way to Stevie. Stevie chuckled and picked him up once Aaron had reached her. Aaron laid his head on Stevie and hugged her.
"You were so close Aaron!" Emily said as she sat next to Stevie. "You almost walked all by yourself!"
Stevie was smiling wide and said. "My baby boy is getting so big!"Stevie's smile faltered a little and thought of how Lindsey was missing Aaron's life as well as their daughter's. Sara saw the emotions that came across Stevie's face.
Sara sat down by Stevie and smiled a little at her mother.
Stevie smiled back and was about to say something when Aaron said. "Da...da...Dada!"
He looked over Stevie's shoulder and babbled and giggled; Aaron stared straight at Lindsey as Lindsey stared and smiled back.Stevie froze and her were wide. "Aaron...you just said Dada! Oh my gosh!" Stevie said with tears in her eyes.
Sara hugged Stevie and said. "I think Aaron is telling us that daddy is here with us. He's not missing a single thing."Stevie nodded as her tears spilt over her cheeks. She picked up Aaron and held him close as she rocked him.
Stevie then, with Sara's help stood up. She and Sara walked over to the sofa to sit down.
Stevie still had tears rolling down her cheeks. She rocked him and Aaron gently tapped on Stevie's breasts.
She knew that meant he was hungry, so she pulled up her blouse to nurse him. Aaron latched on and looked up his mother.
Stevie wiped away her tears then softly smiled down at Aaron.
Sara and her little sisters watched their mother intently. They too had tears in their eyes.
Hayley sat down next to Sara while Emily sat on Sara's lap.
"I'm sorry, girls." Stevie said as she caressed Aaron's chubby cheek. "I just...I...I just really miss your father."
Sara put her hand on her mom's shoulder and smiled through her tears. Stevie looked over at Sara.
"We know." Sara said softly. "We do too."
Stevie nodded her head then sighed. She looked back at Aaron who was falling asleep.
Stevie smiled again then said. "I was thinking that on your father's and Aaron's birthday, before Aaron's party, we should go visit Lindsey. What do you all think?"
"That's a great idea!" Hayley said. "We can bring him flowers, some balloons and even a cake."
"Yeah!!!" Emily said excitedly. "Daddy would love that!"Sara chuckled as she wiped away her tears. "We should definitely do that."
Stevie smiled at her daughters and said. "That sounds like a wonderful plan."
They all nodded and soon they were watching a movie together. Sara, Hayley, Emily we're sitting around Stevie and Stevie was sitting in the middle with Aaron fast asleep on her chest.
Lindsey watched his family from afar and smiled. Yes, his heartaches to be with him. But as long as they are living and healthy is all he cares about. He knows that when the times comes, they all would be reunited again someday. Until then, he had to learn great patience.
