Release Day...

Refreshed wasn't the word as I woke up from my night long slumber. Being able to sleep a full night was heaven sent. I should've known though, crying always led to a good sleep.

I still felt a way about being shot by someone I sort of know and the type of person I am, I cant find a grudge holding bone in my body. If anything I hope that he can forgive himself and move on. Im not sure if he even cared about me enough to care of the effect he would have on me. But I would have to let the situation be. He would feel it either way but I had to figure out how to not care and let things be what they were as well. A part of me is happy that I didn't give him my number the first night we met. It made things less complicated and easier for me to shake off the whole situation, I hope. I wouldn't be mad if we never spoke again. I don't hate him but the process just sounded right for my mental at the moment.

"Why yo face so ugly?" Sincere's raspy voice drew out.

"Shut up," I rolled my eyes sitting up slowly acknowledging him laying in the cot to the right of me.

"What you thinking about? You mad?"

"I'm wondering what that is you laying on and no I'm not."

"Some cot the nurse gave me. You was knocked out and ain't leave me no space. How you sleep?"

"Sorry. I was on cloud nine," I smiled.

"Shoulda been on cloud sin," he smirked while looking up from his phone.

"Probably," I smirked back.

"You think you can sit on my face a little later?"

I laughed as a knock sounded on the door. This was the first light conversation we'd had since the shooting had happened. Even though it wasn't much of a conversation, it felt good and it was a good tone to set for the day.

"Come in."

An older black nurse came in smiling as she quickly checked my vitals. She reminded me of Angela Bassett in Waiting to Exhale. She was her picture. They shared the same facial structure and short hair . She mirrored her shape as well.

"How'd you sleep?"

"Good, I'm just ready to go honestly."

"I know," she cooed while scribbling on her pad." If it makes you feel better, you can start getting ready to go. Your doctor should be in to brief you around twelve. that's in a little over two hours," She massaged my hand. "I'll be right behind him with your discharge papers. Deal?"

"Deal," I smiled.

"Did you survive on that cot, young man?" She addressed sincere on her way out.

"Yes, ma'am" he blushed.

"Alright you two... Behave," she gave a look a mother would give their child closing the door.

"I knew she heard you!" I blushed throwing a pillow his way.

"Not how I'm tryna hear you." He laughed.

"Whatever. Did you bring me a change of clothes?"

"Yeah, you hurting?" He asked approaching my bedside.

"A little. Just sore," I pulled back the covers for him and he climbed in the small bed with me.

"You need medicine?" He reached for my call button.

"No it's manageable."

"What about bandages? You leaked through again?"
