All My Fault: Chapter 4

Chapter 4

PHILS POV:

It was a couple days later and I decided it would be a good idea to take Dan out to the forest to teach him some vampire skills. We trained for only an hour before I could sense vampires coming our way. I could tell that it was Chris and Pj. Once Dan saw the two vampires stop in front of us and he jumped in front of me, hissing at them. I knew that Dan wouldn't recognize Pj and Chris's vampire scents, but what I didn't expect was for him not recognize their faces. Dan kept me behind him and kept hissing at the two vampires. Pj did the smart thing by putting his hands up and staying completely still, letting Dan know he wasn't a threat. Chris on the other hand did the worst thing you could possibly do. He started moving quickly towards us yelling at Dan to calm down. I wasn't surprised when Dan jumped on top of Chris and started trying to hurt him.

I was about to pull Dan off when I saw Pj throw himself at Dan. I hissed as I watched them wrestle for a couple seconds before Pj picked Dan up and threw him. I watched as my mate sailed through the air and then slammed through a tree. As Pj went over to check on Chris I yelled at them, " What were you thinking Chris! He's a newborn and he's going through the possessive faze of being newly mated!... And you Pj!  How could you do that to him?! You should know how to control your anger especially around a newborn!" Then without even hear what they had to say I ran off to go see if Dan was alright.

I found him on the ground unconscious. It wasn't uncommon for a new born to get knocked out from such a powerful attack, but I was still concerned. I touched Dan's face to wake him up. When he opened his eyes they had turned back from bright red back to their natural brown colour. I helped him sit up and watched his gaze drift down to the forest floor. I could tell something was upsetting him. I asked, "what's wrong bear?" He sighed and said, " I'm just embarrassed that I attacked Chris... I should have known he wasn't going to hurt you..." The sadness and embarrassment in his voice broke my heart. I couldn't stand seeing him upset. I pulled him close feeling him melt into my touch  and said, "Don't worry about it love all newly mated vampires get protective of their mates. I know that I sure was." Dan sighed contently and pressed himself further into my shoulder.

After a few minutes of holding each other In comfortable silence I heard Pj and Chris approach us.

DANS POV:

As Pj and Chris came up behind us I had to resist the urge to hiss. Phil had heard them as well, because he broke our hug and helped me stand up. I didn't dare look at Chris or Pj I was still embarrassed about what I did even though I couldn't control it. Finally Pj broke the silence by saying, "Look Dan I'm really sorry that I attacked you like that. I was just trying protect Chris..." I looked up at him an said, " Yeah I know how that feels... it's okay Pj." I started to apologize to Chris for attacking him when he interrupted me, " Don't bother apologizing for that Dan. It wasn't your fault. I was the one who provoked you and I'm sorry." I gave him a small smile and accepted his apology. After Phil and I finished training we went back to our flat with Pj and Chris so we could play board games.
