The playlist Mia had compiled played from the speakers across the room. Niall had to admit he really hated the song that was currently playing, but with the broken remote, he had to either get up and change it or endure. They had decided to spend the night together in his room while Luke spent his doing the usual and making some extra money by playing guitar in the courtyard. Neither of them really understood how he was able to sit outside for so long in the cold, but they had subtly started to learn that there was a cute girl their sandy haired friend had his eye on and was desperate to catch her attention.
Mia had enough with Niall. He had been a real dick lately and by the faint odor floating in the room, she knew he’d been having a lot of girls over. She wasn’t sure why he was being this way. His grades were down and he was having a hard time keeping his starter position on the football team. The coach was harping on him with threats to take him off the team if nothing changed. There was a question itching at the back of her mind that she has desperate to have answered and she was fed up of Niall dodging it. Over time, Zoe and Mia had gotten close, their friendship developing into a really great one. She knew the intimate details that her friend confessed to her, and how worried Zoe was as well as the toll it was taking in her relationship. She needed to know Niall’s perspective.
“Why did you decide to take Zoe’s virginity?” Mia asked shamelessly, crushing the tip of her blunt into the ashtray before taking another hit. Niall’s lips twisted as his face contorted painfully as though it was a bad thought to think of. “Go on. I want to hear this,” she spat out, sucking the drug into her lungs.
“I was drunk, okay. Wasn’t thinking much. Why do you even care?” The blond eyed his best friend coldly and took a sip of his beer between a hit. The Wednesday night was escaping them; they were unconcerned by the day of the week.
“Don’t pull that bullshit excuse. Zoe’s my friend and you treated her like crap. It’s really fucking shit up with her relationship and it’s your fault.”
“How’s it my fault Ryan can’t touch her right? I have nothing to do with this. It’s not my problem he can’t get her off.” Niall smirked and wiped his hazy blue eyes. He looked back up to his best friend – she had his snapback on again and that leotard thing he didn’t understand why she wore and tight jeans. “You look hot tonight,” Niall grinned and bit his lip, hoping to soothe her. Mia was a sucker for compliments.
“You’re a fucking sleaze. Serves you right to have her move on from you so fast, I’m glad she’s with Ryan. He’s not a piece of shit like you.” Mia snapped and pulled her feet off the table. The venom leeched her words as she thought about Niall’s reputation with girls, especially the more recent ones. The two of them weren’t ones to judge each other; in fact they were much more alike than they wished to admit. The memory of their pact to travel the world and have a crazy adventure with foreign drugs and foreign sex partners was one they shared. The secret fantasy of having a threesome with a local girl during their travels and never speak about it again was one carved into their minds since they were sixteen. Niall and Mia were one and the same, in it until the end and they would always love each other – just not romantically.
Lately however, Mia was finding her counterpart distasteful in his choice of women. It was getting hard to look at her blond friend and she couldn’t control her bitterness. A particular snobby blond bitch was at the forefront of her thoughts as she smoked yet another joint, burning through the weed like a spoiled brat with a large trust fund. She could not bear the thought of Niall’s penis being in such a slimy ratchet girl like Eva Dale. The blond whore was part of the reason Mia never gave Jack another look. It was bad enough Eva Dale couldn’t keep her claws off Harry, but she had to go fuck around with her best friend – the sly skank had nerves.
