Chapter Nine:

Kyle's POV:

The rain was crazy. That one storm that Zo had seen was just going and going and we saw no end to it.

Jace drove halfway home and I saw him starting to drift off while driving.

So I took over. Besides, I didn't exactly want to have to deal with an accident on top of the crazy day I've already had. We pulled over and switched seats, with me driving and him falling asleep in the passenger seat.

I got home in half an hour and had to wake up Jace. He'd gotten everything from the beach and it was all in the trunk to unpack.

"Just leave it...I'll get it in the morning," I said to Jace who looked like he was about to drop dead. He had barely made it past the truck's door without falling. I laughed at him. The rain was still going and I could hear a few rumbles as well.

Jace kept walking and dug around his pockets looking for the key, squinting because the drops kept getting in his face.

Meanwhile, I looked towards Zo. Dead asleep on her purse, curled in a ball, snoring softly. Cutest sight I've ever seen.

"Zo," I nudged her. She didn't even budge. "Zo, wake up."

Ugh. Fine. I got out quickly and I lifted her onto my arms. I closed the door with my foot and started to jog towards the door.

And then she decided to wake up.

"Put me down," she moaned, yawning in my face.

"Only if you promise to brush your teeth," I joked. The truth was, her breath smelled like her gum. Minty. Yum.

"Shut up," she said, wiggling so I would put her down.

I dropped her but she was fast enough that she straightened herself up in a second.

"Nice try," she said.

I laughed at her and walked ahead, towards the door. I opened it and walked inside, right up to my room...or the guest room.

I closed the door and jumped on the bed.

Sleep.

Zoey's POV:

I watched as Kyle headed upstairs. What the hell's up his ass?

Eh. Jace was snoring on the couch, clearly too tired to even make it to his room. His hair was completely wet and he kept shivering.

I just laughed a little but decided to play the nice sister card. Quietly, I took the chance to place a blanket on top of him that was by the couch. He snuggled it closer and I giggled at his peaceful face.

I walked up the stairs and into my room. I took off my clothes and put on my pajamas. I was nice and snuggly.

The rain could be heard plainly. The pattering was unstopping and relentless. It helped for a second to hear the rain. But then I realized I couldn't fall asleep.
